Syftet med föreliggande studie var att undersöka hur interaktion i det sociala nätverket Facebook kan påverka mående och om personlighetsdragen narcissism och grad av självkänsla hade en inverkan. 108 deltagare skattade grad av narcissism med hjälp av NPI, självkänsla genom SES och besvarade frågor kopplade till mående med hjälp av en för studien konstruerad enkät. Resultat visade att användandet hade koppling till irritation hos personer med hög grad av narcissism. Hög självkänsla korrelerade till välmående medan låg självkänsla föranledde känslor av otillräcklighet. Personlighetsdrag framhölls som en faktor med konsekvenser för mående av Facebook-användning.
The aim of the present study was to investigate how interaction on the social networking site Facebook can affect mood and if the personality traits narcissism and degree of self-esteem could have an impact. 108 participants estimated degree of narcissism using the NPI, self-esteem by SES and answered questions related to mood with the help of a study-designed questionnaire. Results showed that the use was related to irritation in people with a high degree of narcissism. High self-esteem correlated to well-being, while low self-esteem led to feelings of inadequacy. Personality traits were highlighted as a factor having an impact on mood of Facebook use.
