Abstract

As a teacher one needs to know what type of information that is sent to the pupils, when teaching by using different sources. This essay is focused on teaching religion and presents a comparative study of textbooks and websites. The purpose of this study is to compare this material from two different perspectives: Information and methods.

In order to achieve this, the following questions must be answered:

• What is presented in the material?

• Do the contents of the textbooks and websites relate to the curriculum in religion for the 5th school year? And if so, in what way?

• What methodical possibilities do the material offer?

The result of this study shows that the compared textbooks and websites contain information about many different perspectives in the subject of religion. In the textbooks one can find different exercises to work with, while the websites is focused on information. This means that the preparation needed before using the material differs. Something in common for both kinds of material is that pupils should be encouraged to evaluate the sources when interpreting the information.

A drawn conclusion from this study is that the material above relates to the curriculum in different ways.

Sammandrag

Som lärare är det viktigt att veta vilken information som förmedlas till eleverna när man använder olika källor i undervisningen. I detta arbete presenteras en studie som fokuserar på läroböcker och Internet i religionsundervisningen.

Syftet med denna undersökning är att jämföra dessa ur två perspektiv: metod och material.

För att uppfylla syftet har följande frågor använts:

• Vilka områden presenteras i det undersökta materialet?

• Relaterar innehållet i det undersökta materialet till kursplanens mål i ämnet religion för femte skolåret? I så fall på vilket sätt?

• Vilka metodiska möjligheter finns med materialet?

Resultatet visade att både valda läroböcker och webbsidor täcker in många områden inom ämnet. I läroböckerna finns en del uppgifter av olika slag att arbeta med, medan webbsidornas innehåll koncentreras på information. Detta innebär att förberedelserna inför arbete med de olika materialen skiljer sig åt, men gemensamt för dessa är att eleverna bör uppmuntras att ha ett källkritiskt tankesätt när de tolkar informationen som de läser.

En slutsats av studien är att både valda läroböcker och webbsidor relaterar till kursplanens mål, men på olika sätt.
