This thesis presents an exploratory investigation on similarities and differences between different groups and individuals concerning growth conditions, induvidual characteristics, positive and negative reinforcement and other factors that can be assumed to be of importance for the development of singing ability. A questionnaire with 115 statements was constructed concerning (a) various factors that may affect the development of singing ability and (b) possible effects of such factors on the persons singing ability and behavior.The results confirm findings from earlier studies concering the importance of the family, musical activities at home, positive attitudes and positive influence from school for the development of singing ability. The study also points at other, less investigated factors and circumstances thet may indirectly affect singing development, such as mobbing, anxiety ant shyness
