Introduktion: Räddningstjänsten utgör en samhällsviktig verksamhet som har betydelse för befolkningens liv och hälsa där den kommunala verksamheten har en avgörande betydelse för säkerhet och skydd av liv, miljö och egendom. Utifrån dess betydelse för samhället ställs stora krav på såväl snabba som effektiva insatser. Dessa aspekter kan dock komma att påverkas genom samhällets kontinuerliga utveckling och uppkomsten av nya riskkällor. Syfte: Studiens syfte är att utreda vilka omständigheter som kan påverka räddningstjänsten möjligheter att utföra sina arbetsuppgifter genom att påbörja en riskanalys där eventuella omständigheter kan identifieras. Studien ämnar att utifrån dess syfte besvara följande frågeställningar; vilka omständigheter kan försvåra räddningstjänstens arbete? samt vilka omständigheter kan förhindra räddningstjänstens arbete? Metod: Arbetet antar en kvalitativ forskningsansats i form av intervjustudier med en kompetensgrupp bestående av åtta anställda inom Karlstadregionens räddningstjänstförbund. Individerna som ingår i kompetensgruppen har en genomsnittlig erfarenhet på ca 20 år. Resultat: Genom studiens resultat kan det konstateras att det, utifrån intervjuer med kompetensgruppen, inte finns någon omständighet som kan förhindra möjligheterna till att utföra sitt arbete utan att det går att lösa omständigheternas påverkan genom alternativa lösningar vilka kan vara mer tidskrävande och därmed resultera i en längre utrycknings- och insatstid. De identifierade omständigheterna kan vidare konstateras påverka arbetet i form av att de försvårar det.

Introduction: Fire and rescue services play an important role to the life and health of the population of a society where the municipal fire and rescue services are essential for the safety and protection of life, environment and property. Based on its importance to the society great demands are put on fast as well as effective responses. These may however be affected by society's continuous development and the development of new hazards. Object: The aim of this study is to investigate circumstances that may affect the fire and rescue services ability to perform their duties by conducting a risk analysis. To do so the study aims to answer the following questions; what circumstances may prevent the work of the fire and rescue services? and what circumstances may complicate the work of the fire and rescue services? Method: The method consists of a qualitative research approach using interview studies with a sample group of eight employees at the Karlstad region Fire and Rescue Service. The individuals included in the sample group have an average experience of almost 20 years. Results: The study’s results can concluded that, based on interviews with the sample group, there are no circumstances that can prevent the possibility of carrying out their work by using alternative solutions which may be more time consuming and thus result in a longer emergency and response time. Nonetheless the study shows that the circumstances identified in this study may affect the work as to complicate it.
