Abstract [en]

This study considers successful NSD factors of an engineering company in Iran. It examines the development process of Daneshfaravaraan Company for improvements. The company is engaged in consultation, design and making equipments for mines, and also represents some foreign manufacturers. Topics considered in the thesis are mostly about development process, culture and innovation of the company. We have conducted many interviews with employees and managers through phone, and have had direct access to some information regarding the activities of the company. The study has been based on the guidelines afforded by Skålen, P. (2010), Johne, A. and Storey, C. (1998), Gustafsson, A. and Johnson, M. (2003), fitzsimmons, J A. and M J. (2000), Robbins, S P. (2010), and the successful aspects of the company have been evaluated accordingly. The study revealed some new success factors not compatible with the instructions of Johne, A. and Storey, C. (1998), Gustafson, A and Johnson, M. (2003) on cultural theme.  These include the absence of reward system and having no vigorous system of feedback from the customers. The company has greatly improved its role in innovation as the sole manufacturer of its kind, because of the ongoing economic situation created by the international sanctions. This aspect seems to be unique to the company, and seems not observed by other studies on NSD.
