Studien utforskar hur lärare arbetar med läsförståelsen i klassrummet, samt hur lärarna arbetar med läsförståelseresultat på lågstadiet. Det här är för att PISA:s undersökning visar på att resultatet för läsförståelsen har sjunkit i Sverige. Anledningen till att studien utförs är för att få en inblick i hur lärarna arbetar med undervisning i läsförståelse, men även hur de arbetar med att höja de resultat som eleverna får. Informationen som har använts i den här studien är av kvalitativ form. Det är nio lärare på lågstadiet, som har deltagit i en semistrukturerad intervju som handlar om arbetet de utför inom läsförståelsen. Lärarna arbetar alla i samma kommun, både i samma skola och olika skolor inom kommunen. Lärarna fick svara på frågor gällande deras arbete med läsförståelse. Resultatet som har framkommit av studien är att lärarna lägger mycket arbete på läsförståelsen hos eleverna. Det är för att ge dem en stabil grund att stå på inför sina framtida skolår. Slutligen gav studien en klarare inblick i hur lärarna arbetar med läsförståelse, så som att använda sig av olika typer av litteraturer för att locka eleverna till att läsa.  

The study explores how teachers work with reading comprehension in the classroom, and how the teachers work with the results from elementary school. This is due to PISA:s study shows that the results have lowered in Sweden. The reason for the study is to get an insight of how the teachers educates the students in reading comprehension, but also how they work with getting better results from the students. The information that is used in this study is a qualitative form. It is nine teachers in elementary school that has participated in a semi-structured interview, that is about how they work with reading comprehension. The teachers work in the same district, were some of them work in different schools. The teachers answered questions regarding the subject chosen for this study. The result that emerged shows that the teachers put a lot of time in to reading comprehension. That is to give them a sable foundation to stand on for their future years in school. The result also gave different work methods, that gave different results among the students. At the end the study gave a clear insight of how the teachers handles the work with reading comprehension, by using different types of literatures to attract students to read.
