Abstract [sv]

Tidigare forskning visar att det har gjorts en ideologisk förskjutning i debatten om instrumentalundervisning, från ett lärarcentrerat till ett elevcentrerat förhållningssätt, men att den praktiknära undervisningen haft svårt att anpassa sig (Holmberg 2010, Andersson 2005 Björk, Granfors & Ruthmann 2024, Folkestad 2006, Jeppsson 2020). Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur instrumentallärare vid den kommunala kulturskolan upplever och talar om sin undervisning. Hur beskriver lärare tidigare erfarenheter och dess potentiella inverkan på deras undervisning, hur talar de om sitt undervisningsmaterial och hur väljer de undervisningsmaterial, hur interagerar elev och lärare med varandra och det valda undervisningsmaterialet? Studien är gjord med medierad diskursanalys som teoretiskt ramverk och analysmetod. Resultatet i föreliggande studie visar att lärares tidiga erfarenheter av att vara elev har stor inverkan på hur lärarna sedan utformar sin egen undervisning. Studien visar att instrumentallärare försöker hitta en balans mellan det musikaliska arvet och elevernas vardagsnära musik. 

Abstract [en]

Previous research shows that there has been an ideological shift in the debate about instrumental teaching, from a teacher-centered to a student-centered approach, but that teaching in practice has had difficulty adapting (Holmberg 2010, Andersson 2005 Björk, Granfors & Ruthmann 2024, Folkestad 2006, Jeppsson 2020). The purpose of this study is to investigate how instrumental teachers at the municipal cultural school experience and talk about their teaching. How do teachers describe the previous experiences that affect their teaching, how do they talk about their teaching material and how do they choose teaching material, how do students and teachers interact with each other and the chosen teaching material? The study was conducted using mediated discourse analysis as a theoretical framework and analysis method. The results of the present study show that teachers' own experiences as students have a major impact on how they design their own teaching. The study shows that instrumental teachers try to find a balance between the musical heritage and the students' everyday music.
