This study aims to explore the application of music and other cultural forms in the care of individuals with dementia, with in the county of Värmland, Sweden. It also examines the extent to which such practises are integrated into the local healthcare and cultural policy frameworks. Through a qualitative methodology, the study is based on an analysis of public documents and personal communication with professionals within the cultural sectors. The findings indicate a lack of coherent and concrete cultural policy approach for the implementation of art-based interventions in dementia care. The initiatives are predominantly driven by individual cultural practitioners, and the study highlights a need for increased institutional collaboration and the development of long-term strategies to ensure that culture becomes a more accessible, or hopefully systematically integrated component of dementia care.
