Fiction in Education. : A semi-structured interview study. (English)
Abstract [sv]

Nyckelord: Litteratur, undervisning, semistrukturerad, intervjustudie, kulturkanon.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to examine on what basis secondary school teachers of Swedish choose fictional litterature for teaching and how the teachers motivate their selection. The method that was used in order to find out more about this topic was a semi-structured interview study. As a preparation for this interview study, eight questions were designed for the teachers to answer in regard to their knowledge and experience. The answers from this interview study were discussed based on previous studies where selection of fictional literature in education has been studied. The discussion about the steering documents from Skolverket about the selection of literature and the question of a cultural canon for the education constitutes important aspects of this interview study.

Keywords: Litterature, education, semi-structured, interview study, cultural canon.
