Sexuality and identity in relation to the curriculum’s fundamental values. : An analysis of the didactic potential of Anna Ahlund’s novels. (English)
Abstract [sv]

Nyckelord: genus, sexualitet, ungdomslitteratur, värdegrund, didaktisk potential.

Abstract [en]

The aim of this essay is to examine the possibilities of using Anna Ahlund’s three youth novels Du, bara (2016), Saker ingen ser (2017) and Ganska nära sanningen (2020) in school while working with the fundamental values. The main focus is the descriptions of genderidentity and sexuality. The analysis has a norm critical approach with focus on heteronormativity. The didactic analysis is based on Malin Alkestrand’s term “didacticpotential”.

As the result shows, there are several aspects that could be interesting to use while working with the fundamental values. Ahlund’s novels describe youth gender identity and sexuality inan accepting manner, which could be used to discuss questions about identity, and sexuality as well as sex, relations and consent. This is in accordance with the updated curriculum forupper secondary school, Lgy22.

Key words: gender, sexuality, youth literature, fundamental values, didactic potential.
