Collaboration in special school : Three educaters stories from their professional lives (Swedish)
Abstract [en]

This essay aims to investigate how three educators within the adapted school looks at collaboration. The purpose of this study is to take part of the professional educator’s life stories, and their experiences from collaboration during their professional years as educators. Through life story interviews, we aim to visualize how the school’s internal collaboration is described, as well as how the educator’s collaboration with students and parents are described.

The study is rooted in a life story approach, which shows the educators unique experiences, which is visualized through the purpose of the essay. As a foundation for the investigation we will use the essay on social constructivism.

Three educators, in adapted school, have been interviewed twice at separate occasions.

Seen from the educator’s perspective, the result showed evidence of good collaboration between the home and the school. However, depending on the educators’ stories, the internal collaboration was described differently. One of the educators described a good collaboration with the student health team, where support and resources where put in when needed. While the other educators reported that they to some extent missed a good collaboration with the student health team and wanted it to look differently.

The conclusion of the essay is that collaboration is described differently. While the collaboration between home and school is viable, the internal line of collaboration can be evolved.
