Syftet med denna undersökning är att genom en jämförande retorikanalys undersöka huruvida den retoriska förmågan hos Kristdemokraternas partiledare Göran Hägglund och Ebba Busch Thor skiljer sig åt eller inte. Studien arbetar efter hypotesen att Busch Thor är retoriskt skickligare än sin manliga föregångare. Materialet består av Hägglunds tal under Almedalsveckan valåret 2014 och Busch Thors motsvarighet från 2018. Undersökningen genomförs genom en hermeneutisk retorikanalys där en närläsning av de båda talen genomförs. Analysen visar att de båda talarna är skickliga retoriker men att Busch Thor använder sig av en mer klassisk retorik och utnyttjar sin taltid på ett mer effektivt sätt. Den visar även att Hägglund tar fler risker retoriskt vilket antas bero på hans erfarenhet som partiledare och politiker. Den hypotes som presenterades i början av studien blev därmed bekräftad.

The aim of this study is to examine how the rhetorical ability of the party leaders of the Swedish party Kristdemokraterna differs. The party leaders examined in the study are Göran Hägglund and Ebba Busch Thor. The study works towards the hypothesis that Busch Thor is more rhetorically skilled than her male predecessor. The material consists of Hägglund’s speech held at the political event Almedalen in 2014 and Busch Thor’s speech from the same event in 2018. The study is performed through a hermeneutic rhetorical analysis where a close reading of the two speeches is performed. The analysis shows that both of the speakers are skilled rhetoricians but that Busch Thor applies a more classical rhetoric and uses her time more efficiently. The analysis also shows that Hägglund takes more risks rhetorically which is supposed to be a result of his more senior role as a party leader and politician. The hypothesis presented in the beginning of the study is hereby confirmed.
