This degree project examines students’ perceptions of response whic has also been the purpose of this examination. The questions at issuse have been: how do the students experience response, how do the students see the communication between themselves and the teachers and how do the students see the connection between response and learning? I begin my examination by giving account for different central aspects of response: learning, communication and learning and also previous research on response and feedback. The foundation for my examination has been six student interwievs at secondary school. The results I got were analysed with a method which purpose is to uncover central themes in the interwiev texts. I found three central themes in my interwievs: students’ different attitudes towards response, response provides for different needs and respons is useful for the learning process. My conclusions are that students experience response as something positive for their learning, the communication between students and teachers needs to be clearer and that students see a clear connection between response and learning, however in different aspects. Keywords: learning, ”feedback”, pupil, communication, human development, self- image.
