The purpose of this article is to investigate different features of translation, and to clarify important aspects. I also explore what impact the voice of the translator has on a translated novel. In order to procure the necessary facts I have looked closer at selected material on translation aspects. This article shows that the different translation methods vary greatly and that the result of the translator’s work is strongly connected with the type of translation that he/she chooses. Moreover, the difficulties that a translator can encounter are many and differ from one novel to another. In addition, when looking closer at a translation one has to take into account the voice of the translator. A translation always differs from the original novel. The translator is alone responsible for his/her work and has clearly work with a great deal of liberty. Furthermore, he/she has of course responsibilities towards both the author and the intended readers, but in the end it is he/she that makes the important choices when translating.
