The purpose of the study is to investigate investments the region and municipality make in cultural tourism in the countryside and how they justify the investments in relation to cultural political rationalities. This is through my chosen theory, Dorte Skot-Hansen's three rationalities. I use hermeneutic interpretation. In my results, I present my material and then the analysis that takes place in relation to Skot-Hansen's rationalities divided into regional level and municipal level. In the results section, I describe the various cultural plans from the Region Västra Götaland (2020-2023) and Götene municipality (2018-2023), the action plan from the Kultursystem Kinnekulle project and the information from the association Mötesplats Kinnekulle. Furthermore, interpret and analyze how the region and municipality justify their investments in cultural tourism, as well as what difficulties and opportunities there may be in conducting cultural tourism in the countryside according to the region and municipality.
