In this essay three contemporary podcasts, two fictional pseudo-documentaries and one non-fictionaldocumentary, are analyzed in their contents through the perspective of remediation and genre of theGothic novel. The usage of elements associated with the radio documentary and the Gothic novelwithin the medium of audio podcasts is the main focus of this text and its analysis.The Gothic aestheticis shown through analysis to be a major influence in the three podcasts and has the effect of bothpronouncing the podcast medium and creating an aspect of suspense. In the two pseudo-documentariesthe listening process is itself remediated when the documentary aesthetic is combined with a fictionalmode of storytelling.
