Abstract

The purpose of the thesis was to analyze the integration policies of the Social Democrats and theModerates during the period 2010 - 2020 to see how these two parties have a position on the prevailingunemployment among foreign-born.The study was conducted with the help of an ideology-critical analysis that emphasizes the content ofthe Social Democrats and the moderate political documents. For the theoretical part and to be able toanswer the purpose and questions of the essay in the best possible way, a concept theory from thebook "Communism in Swedish" by Jörgen Hermansson has been applied. To compare and analyzethe parties' arguments from different perspectives and how they perceive unemployment amongforeign-born. To facilitate the investigation, Hermansson's concepts in the theoretical part "Varat","Börat" and "Görat" will be called perception of reality, vision of the future and recommendations foraction. The final result shows that the Social Democrats and the Moderates see unemployment amongforeign-born as one in society that needs to be addressed by counteracting racist structures in thelabor market. The results also show that the differences between the Social Democrats and theModerates' integration policy lie in the approach and how they want to address the problems in orderto achieve the goals. The Moderates believe that a well-functioning integration in the labor marketrequires that the opportunities are combined with clear requirements and expectations of theindividual. And the Social Democrats believe that a crucial factor in being able to establishimmigrants in the labor market is to combine working life with education that leads to a gender-equallabor market.
