The essay deal with Sven Liljecrona, one of the cavaliers from Ekeby, in Selma Lagerlöfs novel “Gösta Berlings saga” and his meaning in her novel “Liljecronas hem”. His brother, Olle, is mentioned only shortly. Sven Liljecrona is analysed as a cavalier, as a fiddler, as a farmer, as a blacksmith and as a human being. From this I have tried to see if he is a symbol for Selma Lagerlöf in her life as a authoress and as a owner to her repurchase of her home as a child. Sven can bee seen as Selma Lagerlöfs alter ego.
