The chapter makes the argument that while migrants and refugees with a working-class background are mostly represented as threats, at the same time, recipients of Golden Visas are encouraged despite their ethnic and religious background, which is otherwise highlighted in the latter. To demonstrate this, the research examines articles from two mainstream Greek newspapers, shedding light on the importance of class as a differentiating factor in the framing of migration. The study examines two relevant case studies; the ‘Evros Events’ (2020) and the implementation of a Golden Visa scheme by successive Greek governments. The chapter addresses a research question with two distinct aspects: How did the Greek press frame the Evros Events and the Golden Visa scheme, and how significant was the role of the class background of the migrants in the application of frames in the Greek press.
