    Abstract [en]

    This study focuses on providing a better understanding of the methods and approaches in the learning of reading development that favors multilingual pupils in the integrated teaching. The study is aimed more specifically on finding out how teachers work to develop reading comprehension among pupils with a mother tongue other than Swedish. Finally the study seeks to answers what teachers think the difficulties are for these pupils in their's reading development. To answer the questions, qualitative interviews were conducted with six teachers. The results of the interviews turn out to support the previous research and theory described in the essay. The interviews also show that native language teachers and Swedish as second language teachers have a great significance for reading comprehension among multilingual pupils. However, these teachers can’t be fully utilized due to limited resources.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this paper was to look at a group of Swedish upper secondary school students’ extramural English activities in comparison to their final grades and their grades on the National Test in English level 5. The aim was also to see what role motivation could potentially play. The method was of a mixed nature with both questionnaires and interviews. The results show tendencies, in accordance with previous research, that there is a correlation between the students’ grades and their extramural English activities. The results also show that attitudes towards English are in correlation with both extramural English and the students’ grades.

    Abstract [en]

    Skolverket constructs and distributes final examination in Swedish as a second language. These tests are only given to younger students at compulsory level, not to adult students. The students' test results can give an idea of whether the language proficiency in Swedish is sufficient to move to Swedish as a secondary language at upper secondary level. This smaller study treats how teachers in adult education perceive whether or not the final exam test is necessary. How this is formulated in the curriculum for adult education and the syllabus for Swedish as a second language is also examined. Some language researchers' views on knowledge, learning and assessment constitute the theoretical point of origin. The results of the study indicate that the final exam tests are demanded by the teachers. Teachers perceive that even students request these tests. This is compared with the central documents supporting the final exam to provide teachers with support in their assessment. Some theorists' views on knowledge, learning, testing and assessment are also discussed to clarify a motivation for the final exam.

    Syftet med föreliggande uppsats är att undersöka diskurser i reklamannonser samt i vilken utsträckning reklamtexter bygger sin övertalning på stereotypiska värderingar kring kvinnligt och manligt. Materialet består av två reklamannonser riktade mot en kvinnlig målgrupp och två reklamannonser riktade mot en manlig målgrupp. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten är genusteori och teori kring reklam och dess diskurser och metoden består av kritisk diskursanalys och kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Tidigare forskning på området har visat att dagens reklamannonser tenderar att använda sig av ett mer vardagligt och icke-akademiskt språk än tidigare. Den har även visat att diskursen i reklamannonser riktade mot en manlig målgrupp kretsar kring självförverkligande, handlingskraft och ledarskap medan diskursen i reklamannonser riktade mot en kvinnlig målgrupp kretsar kring utseende och god kroppskännedom. Resultatet i denna studie visar att det finns underliggande stereotypiska värderingar kring kvinnligt och manligt och dessa tar sig uttryck i ordval och formuleringar. Kvinnlighet kopplas samman med naturlighet, naturligt yttre och vård av yttre medan manlighet kopplas samman med krävande arbete och aktiv fritid.

    Syftet med föreliggande uppsats är att undersöka hur gymnasieelever närmar sig det vetenskapliga skrivandet. Studien undersöker även elevers diskursiva och kritiska kompetens. Bakgrunden till undersökningen utgörs av reformen som genomfördes i gymnasieskolan 2011 och dess nya krav på vetenskaplighet i text inom svenskämnet. Den tidigare forskningen som gjorts på området visar att gymnasieelever har en relativt låg diskursiv och kritisk kompetens. Tidigare studier visar även att elever inte har verktygen som krävs för att skriva vetenskapliga texter. Dessa studier att samtliga genomförda innan reformen 2011. Metoden i den här studien utgörs av kvalitativa fokusgruppsintervjuer och analys av elevskrivna PM. Resultatet visar att eleverna kan tillämpa regler för vedertagna referenssystem. Dock har vissa elever svårt att göra korrekta referatannonseringar vid ett par tillfällen. Eleverna kan klargöra för flera konkreta strategier för att kritiskt granska källors tillförlitlighet. De närmar sig det vetenskapliga skrivande med genomtänkta strategier och kan applicera de skriftspråkliga normer som gäller för ett PM på en mer generell nivå. I jämförelse med den tidigare forskningen visar eleverna en högre diskursiv och kritisk kompetens.

    Abstract [en]

    My purpose with the work is to research and examine how teachers view working with digital tools, in school with children who have reading and writing difficulties and how it benefits their learning. Furthermore, I want to inform myself about the teacher’s perception of how students view the use of digital tools in their education. 

    I have used qualitative interviews as a method of collecting data for my research. The qualita-tive interviews consisted of four teachers working in primary school and one remedial teach-er, the interviews were performed in two selected schools. 

    The results of the research indicate that the majority of teachers use digital tools very often in their teaching and that the access to digital tools is overall good. The results show that the majority of teachers work daily with digital tools in their education and that the minority of teachers working with digital tools is twice a week or nothing at all. The results indicate also that the education becomes more equivalent to all students using digital tools and that the stu-dent’s opinions about the tools are very positive.

    The aim of this study is to investigate stereotypical gender roles in ten fiction-related chapter books for children and young adults from a gender perspective. The selection of fictions has been made randomly from the decades of the 1940s, 1970s, 1990s and 2010s, of which nine books are from the three later decades, three from each decade, and one from the 1940s. The book from the 1940s, Fem söker en skatt, has together with research on gender and stereotypical gender roles in children's and youth literature, worked as a guideline on stereotypical gender roles. The study shows that characters following the stereotypical gender roles are getting fewer and fewer over the years, and that it is of the utmost importance to discuss gender equality from an early age. Here, teachers have an important role to strengthen children and young adult's awareness and acceptance for all human being's own worth.
