    Sammanfattning

    Monteringshallen hos Metso Paper Karlstad är beroende av många utomstående funktioner och processer. De som jobbar med montering och utcheckning måste koordinera sina arbeten med tillverkningen, underleverantörer, inköp, konstruktion och skeppning.

    Alla är medvetna om att det finns problem i monteringshallen och att det måste det göras något för att komma till rätta med dem. Men vilka orsakerna är till problemen finns det olika uppfattningar om. En del upplever det också som att problemen återkommer gång på gång. Få försök har gjorts för att på metodiskt sätt få en gemensam syn på problematiken eller ta fram fakta som kan ligga till grund för beslut om förbättringsområden. Dessutom finns en attityd om att kvalitetsarbete mest tar tid. Problemen anses inte härröra från montaget utan de får helt enkelt finna sig att vara de som städar upp efter andra.

    Syftet med detta examensarbete har varit att svara på frågeställningar om problemens orsaker, dess kostnadsstorlekar och vilka åtgärder som kan vara lämpliga för att minska kvalitetsbristkostnaderna i monteringshallen. Det övergripande målet har varit monteringshallens utveckling av kvalitetsarbetet. Rapporten är baserad på de anställdas erfarenheter som framkommit vid intervjuer. Teorin är vald med fokus på de olika delar som krävs för långsiktigt och kontinuerligt kvalitetsarbete.

    Intervjuerna visar att medvetenheten om sin egen del i problem och problemlösning är låg. De betraktar sig själva som om de inte har del i problemen. Detta är mindre bra eftersom det finns många beroenden till andra funktioner. Dessutom behandlas det många varianter av maskiner vilket än mer ökar behovet av väl fungerande processer. Därför är den nuvarande attityden och kvalitetstänkandet ett stort hinder mot nödvändigt förbättringsarbete. Orsakerna till omarbetningar lagras inte vilket försvårar möjligheterna att på ett effektivt sätt finna lösningar på problemen.

    Rapportens resultat är en genomgång av de nödvändiga byggstenar som krävs för att långsiktigt kunna bedriva framgångsrikt kvalitetsarbete. Det rekommenderas att personer med chefsbefattning tar in de synpunkter som har påpekats och gör en prioritering av det som behöver åtgärdas. Nedanför listas förslag på åtgärder för ett förbättrat kvalitetsarbete i monteringshallen.

    1. Tillsätt en resurs som jobbar aktivt med förbättrings- och kvalitetsfrågor (förbättringssamordnare/ledare).

    2. Börja med pilotgrupp/avdelning som får utbildning i kvalitetsmetoder och verktyg parallellt med förbättringsarbetet.

    3. Informera och utbilda personalen i grunderna inom kvalitet för att få ett gemensamt språk

    4. Våga genomföra förändringar.

    5. Börja med att åtgärda saker som ger tydliga förbättringar med hjälp av 5S

    6. Förbättra Baan-systemet så att det går att spara felorsaker

    7. Kartläggning och förbättring av processerna

    Transaktioner på nätet har ökat drastiskt och till följd av detta har en stor efterfrågan inommikrotransaktioner för företag och organisationer uppkommit. Forskning inom detta områdehar visat att mikrotransaktioner kan effektivisera allt i vardagen, så som hur informationöverförs och att den kan utnyttjas i marknaden för att skapa fler affärsmöjligheter. Dennauppsats undersöker mikrotransaktioners egenskaper, funktioner och diskuterar deraseventuella användning i nutida transaktionssystem. Undersökningen tar upp varför företag villha användning av transaktionssystemet och vilka möjligheter som kan uppstå med tekniken.För att finna en allmän förståelse om tekniken genomfördes litteraturgenomgång som bas ochen kvalitativ intervjuundersökning hos företag som överväger att använda tekniken ochföretag som utvecklar plattformar för tekniken. Med intervjuerna undersöktes om det varmöjligt att använda sig av mikrotransaktioner och hur dagens utveckling ser ut.Slutsatserna av undersökningen blev att mikrotransaktioner går att användas i små mängder,men tekniken behöver bli mer utvecklad för att företag och organisationer skall kunnaacceptera tekniken.

    Denna rapport behandlar ett examensarbete för högskoleingenjörsprogrammet inom innovationsteknik och design vid Karlstad universitet. Arbetet är genomfört av Rasmus Baudtler, handledare för projektet var Lennart Wihk och examinator professor Leo De Vin.

    Projektet är utfört på uppdrag av Zoundindustries, Stockholm. Utvecklare av moderna ljudprodukter. Uppdraget har fokuserats mot att hitta en alternativ lösning för laddning till den trådlösa hörluren Plattan ADV Wireless från varumärket Urbanears. Det huvudsakliga målet var att utveckla en lösning utifrån designmetodik baserad på användarstudier och ingenjörsteknik med syfte i att förenkla laddningsscenariot för användaren och öka tillgängligheten för laddning.

    Projektet har utförts enligt den industriella produktutvecklingsprocessen med fokus inom designprocessen. Arbetet startade i en omfattande förstudie innehållande en produktutvärdering, en teknikstudie samt användarstudier genom designmetodik. Detta ledde till i en projektinriktning mot induktiv laddning.

    Med kunskap inom användarens önskemål och teknikens krav sammanställdes en kravspecifikation med en uppdaterad problemformulering. Genom konceptsframtagningsmetoder togs ett flertal koncept fram utifrån kravspecifikationen. Koncepten behandlades sedan genom olika typer av matriser i ett konceptval som resulterade i ett slutgiltigt konceptval.

    Det slutgiltiga valet var en portabel laddningsplatta med inbyggt batteri. Konceptet ansågs förenkla laddningsscenariot och öka tillgängligheten för användaren. Utvecklingsarbetet fortgick genom fastställande av gränssnitt mellan laddare och hörlur, användarscenarion, modell- och prototypbygge. Det slutgiltiga konceptet presenterades i form av 3D-renderingar och uppvisning av prototyperna vid en utställning vid Karlstads universitet. Genom utvecklingsarbetet uppfylldes de krav som ställts på produkten och en möjlig implementering av tekniken i nuvarande produkt kunde bekräftas. Därför anses projektet stå till svar för den problemformulering som ställts upp i projektet.

    För vidare utveckling av konceptet anses följande områden behöva kompletteras eller undersökas: teknikstudie genom expertis, anpassningsarbete av kretskort, utvärdering av produktens anslutningar samt utvärdering av produktens batteri.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis purpose is to verify Ramböll acoustics method of generating auralisations (simulation of sound environments and in this case the simulation of traffic noise in three different areas in Stockholm). The method is based on traffic noise calculations with the calculation standard Nord2000 where sound levels that are obtained are applied to audio files with traffic similar content. Results have been obtained through measurements, calculations and comparisons at selected points in the three different areas where traffic noise has been developed. The audio files with traffic noise fits relatively good with reality, which can be seen as a ground that Ramböll acoustics method works.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis is a preliminary study in which high quality listening environments have been investigated both objectively and subjectively with the purpose to identify and interpret general acoustic phenomenon that occurs, and how they are percieved, as well to enlighten the reader about these. The report deals with sound physics such as acoustics, an audio engineer's role, psychoacoustics, control rooms and technical equipment. The measurements and listening tests performed have all been done from the intended listening position which were then set against specific requirements and recommendations from AMS (Audio Measurement Standards) and EBU (European Broadcasting Union). Listening test have been made according to EBU standards. Also interviews were conducted with experienced audio engineers. In Conclusion and Discussion objectively measured data is compared with the listening tests, where similarities and conclusions about listening are drawn.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of ecodesign in the altering process of EMS (ISO 14001:2004) to meet the compliance obligations of ISO 14001:2015. The purpose was furthermore to investigate the role of ecodesign in promoting sustainable development thinking and in assisting the management of environmental issues in companies manufacturing medical devices. A qualitative study was conducted in which a case-study research design was employed. Furthermore, a literature review provided theory on the concepts of sustainability and sustainable development, ecodesign and EMS used as a basis for the problem statement and theoretical framework. It was found that ecodesign improves the circumstances for sustainable development thinking. By incorporating environmental concern in the early stages of product development, compromises with other important valuecreating functions of a product can be avoided without spoiling irreversible investments. By communicating and marketing ecodesign as a part of the product quality, the demand on the markets is expected to increase benefitting profit in the long run. Ecodesign was also found to supplement and interact with the missing elements of EMS following a recent enforcement of ISO 14001:2015. The study contributes to research by providing an empirical example of how companies operating in the medical device industry can implement ecodesign to alter the EMS towards compliance with ISO 14001:2015. The study also contributes to research by exploring new ways of combining tools developed for addressing environmental issues in companies. As a conclusion the case study resulted in the construction of a tool for ecodesign with consideration taken to the identified processes, company structure and culture at HemoCue. The tool can be implemented in the EMS of HemoCue to improve the circumstances for sustainable development thinking and to contribute in the altering of ISO 14001:2004 to comply with the ISO 14001:2015 standard.

    Abstract [en]

    Su-Ping Chen Burman has with her company SC Burman developed a standalone unit for public outdoor lighting. It is in line with sustainable development since it is self-sufficient and works without contact with the existing power grid.

    The design of the standalone unit had been entirely based on the technical prerequisites and the form came secondary. Therefore a new aesthetic design was requested. The request was for an aesthetic design that would fit into public places like playgrounds and outdoor gyms.

    The mission was to create an exterior design concept without any concern for the original solution’s appearance.

    A primary requirements specification was made for the product and the specification was based on four main components; solar cell module, LED luminaire, holder (s) and battery.

    To identify components defining the concept design of the lighting solution a second analysis was made. Solar cell module, LED luminaire and holder(s) were the ones chosen and the three components were therefore essential during the creation process.

    When the device is self-powered using solar energy it has a link to design with sustainable development. This motivated the theoretical part of the work; a foreseeable life cycle analysis of the components defining the concept design, as well as a technical description of the solar cells and LED luminaire.

    The main activities of the product development were project planning, feasibility study and the parallel process of generating, developing and evaluating ideas and concepts. Evaluation and selection of the concept through the process was done in consultation with clients, supervisor, innovation advisor and a potential end-customer. The process of generating and selecting concepts for development was carried out in two phases. The first phase defined a certain theme for the aesthetic design of the concept - a classic parasol. The second phase of the creation process was creating with inspiration from this theme. The result of the second phase led to an election mainly between two concepts, where one was to be developed as the final exterior concept for the lighting solution. One of the concepts, an organic one was therefore modelled in 3D-CAD and 3D-printed. Subsequently Burman desired the other alternative, a concept geometrical in form, as the final one. The concept named concept 8.a Geometrical was modeled in CAD, 3D-printed in a scale 1:15 and rendered. The 3D-printing gave a physical appreciation of the concept, while rendering showed how the concept could look like with supposed material. In addition the rendered pictures gave an appreciation of proportions, dimensions and size in relation to users.

    The end result of the project was shown at an exhibition for Bachelor of Science in Innovation and Design and at Karlstad University in spring 2015.

    Syftet med studien är att få kunskap om hur man kan arbeta med teknik i förskolan. Studien fokuserar på pedagogernas erfarenheter och kunskaper inom teknik i förskolan. Två pedagoger från två olika förskolor intervjuades med semistrukturerade intervjuer som metod.

     

    Resultatet i studien visar att teknik kan läggas på olika nivåer beroende på barnets ålder. Resultatet visar att det finns mycket vardagliga moment som är teknik som man kanske inte riktigt tänker på är teknik i förskolan, som att dra upp dragkedjan, spola i toaletten och få upp en pedalhink. Resultatet visar även på att man kan få in teknik på ett roligt och enkelt sätt genom exempelvis teman. Tidigare forskning visar att rolig teknik i tidig ålder kan göra barnen nyfikna på teknik, att det ger dem en bättre inställning till teknik i ungdomen.

     

    Slutsats: Teknik går att introducera redan i tidig ålder, teknik kan vara enkelt, teknik finns överallt, teknik kan vara kul.

    Detta är ett 20 p examensarbete på Innovations- och designingenjörs-programmet vid Karlstads universitet i samarbete med företaget QDP. Projektets utgångspunkt har varit ett patent gällande en förvarings- och doseringsbehållare. Uppgiften var att formge patentets delar och genomföra en marknadsundersökning som tolkades med arbetsmetoden Quality function deployment (QFD). Målsättningen med projektet har varit att genomföra en marknadsundersökning samt ta fram koncept på formgivningen av patentets delar. En förstudie har genomförts med litteraturstudier, studiebesök och intervjuer. För närvarande finns inte någon liknande produkt på den svenska marknaden, de konkurrenter som finns, finns på den amerikanska marknaden. Uppdragsgivaren är därför intresserad av konsumenternas behov och synpunkter på den framtida produkten. För att utveckla en produkt som uppfyller kundens önskemål genomfördes åtta intervjuer med konsumenter och fyra intervjuer med fackfolk. Marknadsundersökningen resulterade i åtta kundönskemål som omvandlades till produktegenskaper med hjälp av QFD-matriser. Vårt arbete resulterade i tre olika koncept innehållande formgivning av behållare och mått samt dokumentation i form av matriser. Koncepten uttrycker enkelhet, har nyhetsvärde på marknaden och uppfyller de kundönskemål som framkom av QFD. Produkterna har en enkel och genomtänkt design som är anpassad till köket.

    All municipalities in Sweden have an obligation to ensure that school children have a safe and secure travel to school. Each municipality decides the minimum distance and determines if school transport should be offered or not. The municipalities in northern Bohuslän, a county in western Sweden, are currently using manual school transportation planning. The distance between a child’s home and the school is measured to determine if a child is entitled school transportation.

    The GIS-group of the municipalities of northern Bohuslän has an ambition to automate the planning process of school transportation using network analysis. By developing and evaluating methods and results of calculated catchment areas and routing in the software ArcGIS and GEOSECMA web, the distance to school can be calculated. The report has been delimited to the municipality of Strömstad. The transportation distance limits differ depending on which age class the children belong to.

    The result of a calculate route between a school and an address point gave the shortest road in ArcGIS and the fastest route in GEOSECMA web. The fastest route is a combination of distance and speed restrictions. When comparing the results of the route analyses in both software there were no differences in the layout of the route, the only difference was the distance between the address point and the school. ArcGIS gave the exact distance while GEOSECMA web gave a rounded result, which makes ArcGIS a more reliable result. In the catchment area analysis ArcGIS created detailed areas close to the road network and GEOSECMA web created generalized areas and a simplified result. The details in the result of GEOSECMA webs catchment areas are deficient compared to the result of ArcGIS.

    The route planning module in GEOSECMA web is based on the Network Analyst extension of ArcGIS, but the analyst tools are simplified and gave generalized result of the analysis. ArcGIS delivers a more detailed result with both tools compared to the result of GEOSECMA web. The result makes ArcGIS a better software to use the GEOSECMA web due to the more reliable and detailed result given in both route and catchments area analyses.

    The design process strength as the basis for developing environment and activity is a project on a design and engineering approach using its methods and tools working on several parts as a basis for developing and creating a removable overall concept. The project is performed on behalf of Designservice in Karlstad, where the end customer is the Beachcenter Varamobaden.

    Beach Center Varamobaden is located in Motala and will be the starting point of a number of activities such as windsurfing, stand-up paddling and kayaking. In addition to activities Beachcenter also wants to offer their customers a restaurant that reflects their vision and events, which welcomes everyone just as they are. Study and formulate Beachcenter's vision and then implement it in the restaurant's layout and infrastructure based at the owner's vision, but also from a customer perspective.

    The feasibility study involves the elements that can create the searched vision. Advancement in the subjects trademark and color theory has been made, a number of different analyzes and several interviews with, among others a design and communications agency focused on the work process.

    A functional analysis summarizes all the sub-functions that should be included on Beachcenter, but also shares the concept into less graspable parts. Based on function analysis, the project has initially been divided into two parts; In House is the first part and has focused on the visual concept. The second part is about the customer experience at the Beachcenter. While working with the customer experience nevertheless identified a key touch point that became the starting point for a third part in the koncept, which involves developing a module bar becoming a center at the Beachcenter.

    Surf style, retro, healthiness, fellowship, activity and relaxation are some of the words that must imbue the concept. Various evaluation methods have been used to get the final concept to match the client's vision as well as possible.

    The completed parts of the In House part is color scale , pattern and fonts that have been applied to various products in the concept but also has been anchored in the restaurant as the opening ceremony on April 30 was completed. The customer experience has been summarized in an overhead view of Beachcenter where module bar is a major center for direct contact between the customer and the staff at the Beachcenter. Module bar has become a prototype and can easily be stored, moved and assembled at Beachcenter.

    With a brand identity, which is a summary of the results obtained during the project, Beachcenter at any time can develop the concept where it is located today, but also easily move or expand their business with the security that the same vision and feel can be created there.

    In 2011 MacBat AB began to develop a electrical energy storage system called Macbat Energy Storage System (MESS), which is made up of 360 two volt lead acid batteries housed in a 20 foot container. However, while lead acid batteries are sensitive to heat this study is focused on investigating how great a cooling demand will be required under different conditions in which chilled distribution, operating temperature of the batteries, climate, insulation and thermal inertia are varied parameters. The study will also determine the configuration of chilled distribution and isolation that gives minimum cooling requirements for the studied climates, which is warm temperate, arid and tropical nature

    To answer the study's two goals four mathematical models were developed in SIMULINK. Two air-cooled and two water-cooled where one of each was insulated with 100 mm mineral wool while the other was bare. For all models the operating temperature varied between 25 - 35 ° C and the studied climates consisted of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Djibouti, Djibouti, Baghdad, Iraq, and London, England. For the water cooled models thermal inertia was also varied in the range of 1.8058 to 9.0288 MJ/ K by increasing the amount of cooling water in the system used to cool the batteries.

    The battery operating temperature was proven to have the most significant impact on the cooling load. The isolation yielded a reducing effect on the cooling load in the case where the ambient temperature surpassed the battery operating temperature during longer periods. Varying thermal inertia of the water cooled models had little or no impact on the cooling load. It is probably due to the electrolyte in the batteries. It is a considerably larger source of thermal mass and is constant in all the models.

    Which configuration, regarding the distribution system and insulation, that obtains a low cooling requirement was found to depend on the ambient climate and the battery operating temperature. However, warm temperate climates such as London requires no cooling system at all.

    The technical administration in Örebro municipality is responsible of water, sewage, refuse collection, roads, traffic and park care. Nowadays no one has the responsibility of the coordination between the departments. The administration is therefore in need of proposals on new applications and to be compared to other municipalities. The objective of this project was to examine the administration and locate possible problems. It was then to define those problems and give proposals on how to solve them. There wasn’t enough time to examine the whole administration and the project was concentrated to the area of roads and traffic. To be able to investigate the function of the coordination between the departments, it did require interviews with a selected amount of employees. Background material was collected and the questionnaires were created in consultation with the tutor.

    During the interviews, the using of GIS amongst the departments became clear. It occurred that there where some differences of opinions, mainly about a certain node and link – system (each node is a crossroad and each link is a block). One department that is in need of the node and link – system claimed that they didn’t get it and by that means it complicated their work. On the other hand, the department that is responsible of the node and link – system, maintained that the update of the system was well functioning.

    In several interviews it became clear that there was a requirement of a common system to store GIS-data, more education in GIS and a detached group to handle GIS-matters. There were also a lot of other needs within the departments. The conclusion was that the updating of the nodes and links got the highest priority, because the lack of these created most difficulties. A detached GIS-group was suggested to be responsible of the coordination in the departments. This group should get a hold of the education, investigate the possibilities of a common GIS-system, take care of the update process and other matters.

    Abstract

    The demand for temporary buildings has increased during the last few years. The main reason for this increase is the need for temporary housing.  This thesis contains the development of a construction solution that locks, joins and seals sandwich panels together in temporary buildings. This solution also explains how to mount, de-mount and re-mount the buildings and was developed in cooperation with the commissioning company Swetech Design AB.

     

    The project has been limited to just the horizontal joints of Swetech Design AB´s sandwich panels. The panels which the construction solution is going to be applied on have the dimensions of 2703 mm in height, 2297 mm in width and a thickness of 206 mm. The core consists of cellular plastic that is laminated with a material that consists of fiberglass and polyester.

     

    The pre-study consisted of literature studies of various types of joints, the important properties needed in order to make an airproof construction and the various building requirements for temporary residents. The pre-study also consisted of a visit to the module building company Mobile Composite Solutions (MCS) which helped in acquiring knowledge of mounting big units and the manufacturing technique RTM. Even inventories in different branches were made, to get knowledge around the different possibilities and variations of locking, sealing and joining parts.

     

    After the completion of the pre-study a requirements specification and two function analysis where made that put demands and requirements on the concept solution and expressed the concept in terms of functions instead of solutions. The requirements specification and the function analysis became the base of the idea generating phase. This phase resulted in partial solutions and complete solutions which were then combined together to establish different concepts. Through elimination methods, screening tools and discussions together with the commissioning company a final concept was chosen. The concept is built on a tension joint in combination with a sealing profile and a locking device made of an angle steel, bolt and nut which can join and seal the sandwich panels.

     

    The concept has been visualized in the form of sketches, CAD-model, a physical model on a cut-out between two sandwich panels in scale 1:1, basic drawings and a component list. A proposal for continued work has also been presented in order to assure that the construction meets all the requirements listed in the requirements specification and to make it possible for the commissioning company to implement the concept.

    The project presented in this report was conducted by Hans Iverlund and was the final thesis of the Study programme in innovation and design engineering at Karlstad University. The project included 22,5 ECTS credits. Parts of the project were carried out in collaboration with Robin Westlund, who also did his final thesis of the Study programme in innovation and design engineering.

    The project was conducted in collaboration with Moelven Eurowand AB, which is a company that manufactures, sells and installs room solutions consisting of wall systems, door portals and some furniture, mainly for offices. Supervisor from Moelven Eurowand AB was Pernilla Irewährn, tutor from Karlstad University was Monica Jakobsson and examiner for the project was Professor Fredrik Thuvander. Moelven Eurowand AB wished to get better insight for how the future office would look and operate, so that they could develop their future products in the right direction. To gain that insight, the project began with extensive research, consisting of literature studies, field studies and interviews with people that work in offices. Parameters that were identified as important for the future of office were the ability of control over the surroundings and the need for acoustical and visual privacy and social interaction with other people. This resulted in a vision for the future that was visualized with a continuously variable dimmer switch that controls the acoustic environment and the visual interaction with other people in the area in which the individual office employee is located. The dimmer switch became the aim for the development of a product that would fit into this vision for the future. The product development was carried out using a list of demands, idea generation and a systematic generation of concepts. The product that was developed was called Summit Flexiwall, and was a flexible panel-wall solution that enabled control of the acoustic environment and the amount of social interaction. The product may serve several different functions in an office environment.

    Marknadskonkurrens och kundernas krav på tillgänglighet och snabbare service, driver på företagens behov av att öka sin produktivitet. Genom att effektivisera sina affärsprocesser med ett modernt affärssystem, ökar de möjligheten att förbli konkurrenskraftiga. Ett felaktigt val av affärssystem kan dock bli kritiskt för företaget och valet bör genomföras metodiskt och genomtänkt för att välja rätt affärssystem. Uppsatsens syfte är att identifiera och beskriva framgångsfaktorer för upphandlingsprocessen av ett affärssystem, ur ett systemimplementatörperspektiv, fram till och med ett lyckat urval av slutkandidater.  Primärdata i denna kandidatuppsats har samlats in från intervjuer. Det har genomförts totalt fem intervjuer varav tre sondera intervjuer och två skarpa expertintervjuer. Kandidatuppsatsens forskningsdesign liknar en fallstudie eftersom de skarpa expertintervjuerna har utförts på två olika fallföretag, där respondenter från respektive fallföretag har svarat på en intervjuguide baserat på kandidatuppsatsens analysmodell. Analysmodellen har sedan blivit modifierad utifrån den genomförda empiriska studien och presenteras i analysen.  Några av de viktigaste slutsatserna från uppsatsstudien är att verksamheten bör ha tydliga strategier och mål, eftersom det lägger grunden för nästkommande faser i upphandlingsprocessen. Strategier, mål och funktionella krav ska beskrivas på ett sådant sätt att hela verksamheten representeras och tydligt formulerar det som efterfrågas av ett affärssystem. Det har även visat sig vara otroligt viktigt att det finns stöd från högsta ledning, detta för att verksamheten ska få bästa möjliga förutsättningar att bedriva en lyckad upphandlingsprocess. Marknadsundersökningen är också en viktig fas, där information om både affärssystem och systemimplementatör ska ingå. Verksamheten vill erhålla information om systemimplementatörerna eftersom de söker en systemimplementatör som känns trovärdig och som verksamheten kan få en bra relation med. Den sista slutsatsen tar upp att verksamheten bör sträva efter ett slutgiltigt val med stor träffyta, eftersom det anses vara mer lönsamt för verksamheten att anskaffa ett affärssystem som slipper förändras mot verksamheten.

    Examensarbetets syfte är att jämföra olika metoder för upprättande av bruksnät utifrån ett anslutningsnät. Mätningarna utfördes med GNSS och totalstation. I huvudsak har ett utförligt bruksnät jämförts med ett förenklat bruksnät. Båda näten är upprättade genom en kombination av mätning med GNSS och därefter totalstation. I rapporten redovisas endast plankoordinater med X, Y och den radiella avvikelsen. Lägesnoggrannhet på mätpunkterna i det utförliga nätet blev ≤ 3 mm i radiell avvikelse. Läget på mätpunkterna i det förenklade nätet avviker 4–10 mm radiellt mot de utförliga mätpunkterna. Tidsmässigt tog det utförliga nätet ca 4 gånger längre tid att upprätta.

    The aim of this study is to gain insight into how teachers at Middle Schools in Sweden (grade 4-6) carry out their teaching of the compulsory school subject technology. This was accomplished through an online survey, which was divided into three sections based on the following three research questions: What thoughts do the teachers have of technology? How do the teachers carry out their teaching of technology? What materials do the teachers use in their teaching of technology? All in all 65 teachers, who currently teach or previously have taught technology at Middle Schools, have participated in the survey. The result reveals that most of the teachers involved find technology to be a fun, exciting and interesting subject, but that it is difficult to evaluate and grade the students, and also time and resource consuming. The study also shows that most of the teachers prefer a variety of theoretical and practical activities, since both elements are required to give the students an understanding of the importance and significance of technology in our society.

    Syftet med denna rapport var att utvärdera hur det på ett enkelt sätt och med hög tillförlitlighet går att kontrollera flygmätningar med UAV. Frågeställningarna som undersöktes var: Hur många kontrollpunkter krävs det för att kunna uppvisa en viss kvalité vid mätning i flygbilder tagna med UAV? Hur förändras kvalitén beroende på antalet kontrollpunkter? Hur ska en marksignal se ut för bästa synlighet i en bild?

    I den första delen av studien diskuterades olika varianter på hur en kontrollpunkt kan se ut. Sex stycken olika varianter tillverkades och testades på gamla flygfältet i Karlstad. Dessa granskades sedan okulärt, de två bästa valdes ut som sedan undersöktes i Global Mapper och beräknades i Excel. Den bästa kontrollpunkten erhölls och ytterligare signaler av den utformningen tillverkades, totalt 21 stycken. Den valda utformningen provades och flögs över en bergtäkt i Sandseryd utanför Jönköping. Data från flygningen beräknades och ett resultat erhölls.

    Resultatet visade på att man med ett par väl definierade kontrollpunkter, kan uppnå ett värde på under 25 mm radiellt i plan, ett medelfel under 10 mm i plan och drygt 15 mm i höjd. Det räcker således med ett par punkter men ett par extra rekommenderas, två punkter kan lika väl användas som tjugo punkter. En marksignal ska för bästa synlighet ha ett schackrutigt mönster i svart och vitt.

    This report is the result of an examination work at the University of Karlstad. The purpose of this project is to examine how the condition of the steam affects the efficiency of the steam consumers and how variations in that condition affect a pulp and paper mill.

    This report is meant to describe the main components regarding steam production, steam conditioning and steam consumption. It should also be able to give basic information about the significance of steam conditioning in the pulp and paper industry. It is aimed to people working with steam conditioning to increase their understanding and knowledge about it.

    The aim of this report is to:

    • Describe the function of the most commonly used steam generators and the difference between these.

    • Identify the main steam consumers and describe their function.

    • Give an introduction to steam conditioning and its role at a pulp and paper mill.

    This report will try to answer the following questions:

    • How does the generated power from back-pressure steam turbines vary with grade of superheat of outlet steam?

    • What are the advantages with steam conditioning?

    • Are the steam conditioners at Gruvöns bruk able to deliver steam at the right condition?

    The conclusions from this report are that;

    • If the steam conditioning valves are able to reduce small steam flows to the correct temperature, more power can be produced. The design condition of the steam turbines can than be nearer saturation.

    • The temperature variations are more critical at the turbine inlet than downstream the steam conditioning valves. The valves at Gruvöns bruk who are studied in this report, are fully functioning.

    • Common for the main steam consumers at pulp- and paper mills are that they are all sensitive for variations of steam temperature, especially high temperature.

    Vid Glafsfjordens strand nära Glava i Värmland ligger Hillringsbergs herrgård. I anslutning till den ligger en damm och en nedlagd kraftstation vars gamla turbinbyggnad står oanvänd.

    Glava Energy Center (GEC) som ligger intill herrgården är en förening vars verksamhet bland annat går ut på att vara en arena för nya koncept inom förnybar energi. GEC har också en pedagogisk verksamhet där det går att få nytta av turbinbyggnaden, bland annat som en laborationslokal för yrkesinriktade teknikerutbildningar som finns i Arvika.

    Om byggnaden ska användas så måste den ha system för uppvärmning, ventilation och belysning. För att lösa elbehovet för dessa system vill GEC installera solpaneler (Photovoltaic – förkortas PV) på och i anslutning till byggnaden. Vidare vill de också att byggnaden på årsbasis ska klara att producera minst lika mycket el som behövs för dess användning.

    För att få en uppfattning om hur beroende elbehovet är av hur mycket byggnaden används och kraven som ställs på den så behöver olika driftfall undersökas. I denna studie har därför två olika framtida driftfall för byggnaden i form av olika ambitionsnivåer antagits, ett där endast det mindre rummet i byggnaden har krav på uppvärmning samt ett där hela byggnaden har det. I bägge fallen med förbättringsåtgärder på klimatskalet.

    Syftet med denna studie har varit att se om och hur en gammal byggnad, med i utgångspunkt dåliga förutsättningar, med hjälp av solpaneler kan producera el minst motsvarande sin egen elanvändning. Målet har varit att beräkna elproduktionen i installationerna samt elförbrukningen och dess beroende av hur mycket byggnaden används i de två driftfallen.

    I simuleringsprogramvaran Simulink har en modell av byggnaden, med dess egenskaper gällande byggnadsfysik samt med komponenter för att lösa kraven på ventilation, belysning och värme konstruerats. Sedan har byggnadens elbehov för de olika driftfallen beräknats genom simulering av ett år med olika grader av användning och varierande klimatförhållanden.

    Resultaten visar att installationerna av solpaneler genererar mellan ca 4300 och 5700 kWh på ett år beroende på faktorer som snötäckning av installationerna på taket, årsvariation på solinstrålning samt osäkerhet gällande installationernas totalverkningsgrad. I driftfallet med uppvärmning i endast det mindre rummet genereras ett elöverskott på årsbasis motsvarande 33–180 % av elbehovet. I driftfallet med uppvärmning i hela byggnaden skulle ett värmepumpsystem med en årsvärmefaktor på mellan ca 3 och 4 (i ett ”worst case”-scenario 7,6) krävas för att lösa byggnadens värmebehov med det tillgängliga elöverskottet.

    Antaganden och parametrar som rör klimatvariationer och byggnadens konstruktion har testats för känslighetsanalys men att vissa osäkerheter fortfarande ligger till grund för resultaten kan inte uteslutas. Resultaten är också beroende av att de förbättringsåtgärder som simulerats genomförs minst lika bra i byggnadens framtida driftfall. En slutsats är att båda driftfallen kan - under realistiska men i ena fallet inte värsta tänkbara scenarier - gå med ett elöverskott på årsbasis, alltså producera lika mycket el i PV-installationerna som behövs för driften av byggnaden.

    Abstract [en]

    SOMAS are a producing company within the valve area and are producing different kinds of valves and actuators.

    SOMAS wants to design a ball valve with the standardized flow diameter DN500 to meet the market demands. Today’s construction if it's up scaled from a DN400 ball valve to DN500 gives to much torque for the actuator to handle the turning of the ball, therefore a new design is needed.

    Our task is to come up with new design ideas. In addition, find out which one of those are the most suitable.

    The goal is to come up with at construction suggestion of the most suitable construction.

    3D CAD-models of SOMAS DN400 ball valve were made at which some modifications were made. It was easy to see the variation in the ball mass when a modification was made in Pro/engineer. We made models of the existing DN400 ball, ball with the bottom cut of and dice shaped ball. When we knew the mass of the alternative shapes and the price of the castings, we calculated the price differences in percent between the different alternatives.

    We looked at different types of bearings and separations of the valve house, both with loose and fastened axels.

    Looked at alternative manufacturing methods and alternative materials for the ball. The price on the alternative materials where compared with standard castings (SS 2343).

    To come up with a size for the seat to a DN500 ball valve, calculations of the seat pressure was made. A diagram over all SOMAS ball valves was made in Excel to calculate necessary closing torque for a floating DN500 ball (floating means that the ball does not have a bearing in the bottom look, at figur 2 page 15).

    We conclude that we had to mount the ball in bearings to minimize the torque. Calculated bearing pressure and shear in the shafts to come up with required length and diameter of those.

    Computed on how much the torque reduction was if the ball was mounted in bearings versus floating.

    We found that a dice shaped ball with bearings, cast axels, milled bearing houses and diagonally split valve house is the most suitable.

    Abstract [en]

    Abstract The company Zetterströms Rostfria AB in Molkom producing heat exchangers for different purposes. In the production Zetterströms are using a seam welding machine that demands cooling water. The quantity of cooling water the company consumes is 2016m3/year. The seam welding machine works on different effects depending on the thickness of the sheet metal. Thicker sheet metal demands higher power than a thinner sheet metal. This study handles values from two different effects that the welding machine is working with. Zetterströms wants to reduce the quantity of cooling water and reuse the energy the cooling water receives in the welding machine. The purpose of this study is to survey how to reduce the quantity of cooling water used and how to integrate the energy in the cooling water to the buildings heating system. The objective of the study is to find a solution that takes care of the energy in the cooling water and reduce the quantity of cooling water. The method endures to analyze Zetterströms heating system to find the heating systems operating temperatures. Several measurements on the cooling water temperatures and water flows were made. The results from the measurements showed that the welding machine transferred two different effects to the cooling water. The welding machine transferred 40,1 respective 15,6kW to the cooling water. This study handles these two effects. When this two effects are known, two suggestions where hammered out. One suggestion reduces the cooling water flow to recommended level and a fan coil is installed to warm the industrial premises. The second suggestion is a close system with a heat pump. The heat pump cools the water so it can be reused as cooling water again. The recommended temperature of the cooling water is 14-15ºC. The energy from the cooling water is pumped to 60ºC with the help from a heat pump. The warm water from the heat pump emits in fan coils like the first suggestion. The fresh water consuming will be reduced to minimal level with the second suggestion. The saving for the first suggestion will be 12400kr/year and for the second suggestion 41600kr/year.

    Abstract [en]

    This report describes a Bachelor Theisis of Science in Innovation and Design, conducted by Rebecca Magyar. The project was carried out for Home Structures Sweden AB directed to their own brand Irislights with Peter Nordin as task manager.  

    The existing product Irislights consists of one product, a LED trail for indoor use. The product is supposed to be creative in terms of color and pattern and let the customers combine and create a personalized light trail. The project's main task was to generate a fastening function for the existing product with consideration to customer needs. Also develop the chosen soulution with oppurtunity to provide the customer oppurtunity to us their own creativity. 

     The implementation of the work was based on a survey of future trends in interior design and in the lightning industry, also by analysing customer needs. Requirements was developed after creating understanding about the existing technology in Irislights which affected the chosen concept so it could be practicable in reality. Based on a feasibility study ideas was created which generated a final product suggestion. The chosen concept was presented through sketches, a modell in 3D-CAD , CAD-drawings and a full-scale prototype. The selection of material was also made in the program CES EduPack to give suggestions on an environmentally friendly alternative in terms of energy consumption in the primary production of a material.

    Abstract [en]

    KBAB has a demand to save energy in their real estate by decreasing the consumption of energy in their laundry rooms. Integrating the condensing heat with the real estate heat system and decreasing the humidity in the laundry room can achieve it.

    Drying clothes is carried out by using two types of tumble dryers: open cycle dryer and the closed cycle dryer. In the open cycle dryer the room air is heated and sent into the drying drum. The humid air evacuates the laundry room after it exits the tumble dryer. In the closed cycle dryer the air is recirculated after the humid air passes a condenser where the water vapour is condensed before it is led back to the drying drum.

    In this thesis an external unit of two heat exchangers is attached to a tumble dryer from Asko Cylinda AB. The humid air from the tumble dryer is cooled and condensed in the first heat exchanger, and it is heated in the second heat exchanger before it is led back to the tumble dryer. During measurements temperature and flow was measured for air and water at the entrance and exit of the heat exchangers. Relative humidity was measured at the entrance of the first heat exchanger and at the exit of the other one. With knowledge of temperature and relative humidity enthalpy values can be read in a mollier diagram. Enthalpy values are used to calculate the power of the heat exchanger.

    If the heat exchangers are applied in a real estate, 3 kWh regains from one drying process with 6 kg drying load. 170 kWh regains during a year in a household for one person and 500 kWh regains for a family. The energy consumption is reduced by 65% if the heat exchangers are applied.

    After measurements at Karlstads University it was clear that the cooling heat exchanger had a power of 3 kW and the heating heat exchanger had a power of 1 kW. In comparison with a condenser from Asko Cylinda, which has a power of 1 kW, the cooling heat exchanger has a large power output. The effectiveness of the cooling and heating heat exchangers was calculated to 99% and 97% respectively.

    A reduction of the heat transfer area on the cooling heat exchanger did not have a large impact on the power output. A reduction from 2,7 m2 to 0,7 m2 contributed to a 5,4% lesser power output. The power output on the heating heat exchanger was reduced with 37,1% when the heat transfer area was reduced from 1,0 m2 to 0,27 m2. The fin height must be reduced if the heat exchanger unit can be installed in a tumble dryer from Asko Cylinda AB. To maintain a high effectiveness on the heating heat exchanger the fin length could be extended.

    Abstract [en]

    As the interest in intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI) increases, so does the need of a suitable antenna which endures those demanding conditions. The ultrawideband (UWB) technology provides an elegant way of generating high-voltage UWB pulses which can be used for IEMI. One UWB antenna, invented solely for the purpose of radiating pulses, is the impulse radiating antenna (IRA). In the course of this master thesis work, a suitable geometry of the IRA is suggested, and modelled, for the high-voltage application of 90 kV.

    Scanning är ett verktyg som har utvecklats mycket och används mer och mer inom geodetisk mätning. Instrumenten har blivit mer pålitliga med högre kvalité på resultaten, därför är det viktigt att eliminera de problem som kan skada scanningens pålitlighet. Det problemet som ska undersökas och testas i det här examensarbetet uppstår när man till exempel scannar en bergvägg. Man vill få en så lik avbildning av bergväggen som möjligt för att sedan kunna göra volymberäkningar emot bergväggen. Avbildningen av bergväggen består av ett moln av punkter som tillsammans skapar en 3D-modell av bergväggen.

     

    Om det ska fyllas med betong emot bergväggen så måste man veta vilken volym betong det kommer gå åt, därför är det viktigt att modellen av bergväggen stämmer. Problemet är att modellen kan visa sig att vara fel beroende på hur man har scannat. Det är när bergväggen är så pass ojämn och att man inte kan scanna från alla vinklar som det uppstår så kallade skuggor i modellen, en hålighet i berget kan då i modellen istället vara fylld. Detta gör att det går åt mer volym när man ska fylla igen vilket kan bli dyrt för alla inblandade.

     

    För att testa detta ska flera olika metoder testas under arbetet, olika typer av instrument, täthet mellan punkter, olika infallsvinklar och manuell scanning. Det som är intressant att se är hur pass mycket metoderna skiljer sig mellan varandra och genom att jämföra dessa så kan man få fram ett resultat som visar vilken metod som är mest trovärdig.

     

    Arbetets resultat och analys finns att läsa senare i den här rapporten där man också får svar hur arbetet genomfördes och hur metoderna skilde sig emot varnadra.

    Drying of fruits has been done for many years and different techniques have been developed. For preservation of fruit, drying is a good method for producing sustainable food products that avoids waste. The interest in producing sustainable food products that are nutritious and safe from bacterial growth has increased. In developing countries large amounts of food are destroyed, while many people are undernourished.

    Every year large amounts of pineapples are produced in Ghana. The pineapples are either being sold fresh or distributed to juice producers. To minimize the wastes and improve the economy in rural areas, drying is an interesting method. The unreliable power supply system is a problem in Ghana. Power failure is frequent. During dry season, sun drying is a suitable method for Ghana, which has a tropical climate with dry and rain seasons.

    A solar dryer for pineapples has been developed, constructed, modified, tested and implemented in the village Edumafa, in a rural area of Ghana. The only energy source that has been used to dry the pineapples is the sun.

    Before the trip to Ghana, drying tests were made in a laboratory in Sweden and a prototype of the dryer was built in the university workshop. This was done to facilitate the work in Ghana by gaining experience from drying and constructing. The prototyping also clarified which type of tools that would be needed so the tools could be transported from Sweden.

    The results from drying pineapple slices at 70°C in an oven in Sweden resulted in slices with hard shells and a soft, moist content (the moisture could not be removed since it became enclosed inside the slices).The conclusion was drawn that the pineapples cannot be dried in such a high temperature. Slices were in good quality when dried at 50°C.

    Since the citizens in the village Edumafa have never dried pineapples before, it is important for them to learn how to use the dryer and keep it in good working condition. During wet season it is important that the dryer is protected against rain.

    In the mid of a sunny day, when the temperature in the ambient air was 30°C, the temperature in the drying chamber could be around 50°C. Temperatures over 50°C were possible to achieve and there were no risk for getting to high temperature in the drying chamber. Therefore good drying temperatures can be achieved.

    To change the economy in considerable proportions for the citizens in Edumafa, a bigger dryer is necessary. The villagers need investment help to afford a bigger dryer of this type. The dryer can minimize losses of pineapples and create bigger incomes if the solar dryer is maintained in good condition and the villagers use it often to dry pineapples.

    Böhler Uddeholm Precision strip AB (BUSMU) is a cold rolled steel manufacturer placed in Munkfors. They have three different production lines, saw steel, steel for paper and printing and precision strip steel. One part of the precision strip steel is the valve steel that will be studied in this master thesis. They are delivering the valve steel all over the world but have 9 key account customer that buys over 90 % of the volume.

    The objective of this report is to find out if BUSMU can make their nine key account customers more satisfied and to make them feel more trust for the company. With higher satisfaction and trust for BUSMU the customer could become more loyal and by that continue buying from them.

    The method used is the case study method with a qualitative approach. BUSMU is the only company and the valve steel is the only division that will be studied which makes this a single case study. The qualitative approach is used because the results wanted could not be reached by statistical data. Since there are no records of the value chain in the company or how to deal with the customer this had to be investigated by interviews.

    A case study often mixes different methods of collecting data. In this report the methods used are: scientific articles, subject related textbooks, sales material from the company and the company’s web page. Also interviews with the employees and a questionnaire that was sent to the customers was used.

    The conclusion made in the report is that the value chain does not have any overlaps between BUSMU and their customer. That shows that they have a good knowledge about each other’s processes.

    The delivery time of the raw material is too long and BUSMU should work with their supplier to shorten the delivery time so that BUSMU can shorten their overall delivery time to their customers.

    BUSMU are doing a good work with their key accounts according to the key accounts themselves. Although it is important that they continue develop their relations and cooperation so that they do not fall behind and the customer starts buying from competitors instead.

    The internal customers and the old customers should be treated well so that they continue being satisfied with the relationship. The new customers are in this case probably the group with the most potential to enhance satisfaction and thereby climb higher on the key account management (KAM) stage.

    The communication with the key account companies is important both in the cooperation and to make sure that they are working on the same level on the KAM stage. Without good communication they could misunderstand each other and break up the relationship.

    The value of the product is perceived as high by the customers. BUSMU has not lost any key account customer on flapper valve for many years which indicate satisfied customers. This also indicates that the customers are loyal to the company.

    The internal customers and the old customers have BUSMU as a preferred supplier which indicate high trust between them. The trust could enhance which would reveal it selves by that the customers have BUSMU as sole supplier. Some of them already have that trust in BUSMU. The new customers do not have the same trust in BUSMU yet. It takes time to create that trust.

    The interaction is well developed between BUSMU and the companies that has been customer of BUSMU for some years. Interaction develops over time so the companies that are the latest customers needs more time since their relationship to BUSMU still is new.

    The customers seem to be satisfied with BUSMU but that could change fast. BUSMU has to continue working on enhancing the satisfaction so that their competitors do not become better and win the customers over to them.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study is to show how preschool children can learn about technical systems, in particular the sewerage system and how their perceptions of it changes after a pedagogical activity.

    The question this study intends to investigate is: What perceptions do 4-5 year olds have about the sewerage system before and after a pedagogical activity?

    The study is based on six children´s perceptions of the sewerage system. Qualitative interviews were used before and after a pedagogical activity to get an understanding of the children´s perceptions. In the pedagogical activity pictures of a simplified sewerage system were shown to explain how it could work. They then got to construct and test a simplified sewerage system several times. After this the same pictures were presented and the children had to put them together by them self to get a complete sewerage system. The activity was concluded with a visit to the toilets to look at the plumbing and discussions about the sewerage system.  The results of the study show that the children´s perceptions of the sewerage system developed. Initially the children primarily had knowledge about the visible parts of the system, like the toilet and the flush button. Their understanding of the functions of a sewerage system was also poor. After the pedagogical activity the children´s individual perceptions of the sewerage system had developed both regarding to the components and the functions of the sewerage system.

    Det här examensarbetets syfte är att ta fram en metod för att på ett enkelt och effektivt sätt med låg mätosäkerhet ajourhålla höjdkurvor på platser där marknivån har förändrats i en omfattning så att kommunens höjdkurvor behöver revideras. 

    Eftersom det tidigare inte har funnits en utarbetad metod för att ajourhålla höjdkurvor har jag fått pröva mig fram till en metod som har gett tillfredsställande resultat. 

    Metoden som har tagits fram är lätt att använda och gör att man på ett enkelt sätt kan uppdatera kommunenens baskarta med ny information. Genom att mäta in punkter med hjälp av GNSS-teknik och sedan använda programmet AutoCAD Civil 3D, har det gått att få de resultat som eftersträvades. 

    Metoden som tagits fram ger kommunen möjlighet att uppdatera mindre områden i sina kartor på ett enkelt sätt. Det som krävs är en mottagare som en person kan hantera, programmet AutoCAD Civil 3D och ett område som inte är större än att en person på ett rimligt sätt kan mäta in det till fots.

    Byggnads- och servicesektorn står för en stor del av den totala energianvändningen i Sverige och människan är idag väl medveten om konsekvenserna vid hög energianvändning. För att minska energianvändningen har det utvecklats energisnåla hus t.ex. passivhusen. Ett passivhus är välisolerat och tätt vilket medför att det blir energieffektivt.Modulhus i trä medför flera positiva egenskaper, trä är förnyelsebart och har en lägre påverkan på koldioxidutsläpp i förhållande till det flesta andra byggnadsmaterial. Modulhus kortar ner byggprocessen jämfört mot platsbyggnation vilket är bra då det råder bostadsbrist.En modulbyggnad uppfört i trä har undersökts med termografering och energiberäkningar. Med målet att undersöka om en modulbyggnad kan uppnå passivhusstandard. Med termograferingen har byggdelar samt anslutningar mellan byggdelar kontrollerats. Energiberäkningsprogrammet VIP-Energy har använts för att utvärdera byggnadens energiprestanda. Det har konstruerats ett alternativ på hur modulhuset kan utformas i passivhusstandard.Termografiundersökning tyder på att byggnaden har flera köldbryggor, varav ett fåtal bör åtgärdas för att uppnå passivhuskraven. Köldbryggor som uppstår oregelbundet i modulskarvar behöver minimeras eller utebli helt för att uppnå passivhusstandard. Balkonginfästningarna i byggnaden utgör återkommande köldbryggor som behöver justeras för att uppnå passivhusstandard. Energiberäkningarna visar att det är klart möjligt att uppnå passivhusstandard för byggnaden. Värmeförlusttalet för byggnaden klarar passivhuskraven.

    Today, GNSS measurements play an important role in the surveying industry, and their use is ever increasing. Many different GNSS receivers and antenna manufacturers are on the market with new ones appearing.

    The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of measurement uncertainty of three different GNSS receivers: Leica GS15, Sokkia GCX2 and Satlab SL300.

    The method in this study is based mainly on the method proposed by HMK - Geodatakvalitet 2015 (Manual in measurement and map issues – Geographic data quality 2015 [author’s translation]) by Swedish Lantmäteriet for "Evaluation of measurement uncertainty in Network RTK [author’s translation]”. Some corrections and additions are made to this method but the basis of the method is retrieved from there. Formulas are used to calculate radial deviation and limit requirements for these. Even standard deviations and radial mean deviations as well as tolerances for these are calculated. The field measurements are made on two RIX 95-points. This is done repeatedly to get up to 20 measurements. The GNSS receivers are mounted on a tripod with a tribrach that is centered over the known points.

    The main finding from this study is that all investigated receivers, apart from four overriding values ​​for the Leica GS15, perform better than specified by their manufacturers. However, Sokkia GCX2 and Satlab SL300 are approved with uncertainties within the calculated tolerances. The Leica GS15 instrument is very close to meeting the demands but does not reach all the way. A committed error during the performed measurements with the Satlab SL300 makes its evaluation based on 19 instead of 20 measurements. Still, calculations are performed on the collected data that resulted in low measurement uncertainties well below the manufacturer's specified uncertainty.

    The study was conducted during five weeks in May and June 2017.

    Abstract

    Today sheet metal forming is used to make a variety of mass production because it has a high production rate. One of the biggest concerns in sheet metal forming is wear of the tool in form of galling. Galling in sheet metal forming is characterised by an increased tool surface roughness, unstable friction in the forming process and undesirable scratches on the final products.

    Several ways of ranking materials resistance to galling exist today but only ASM G98 is standardised. Nevertheless, some different methods developed for ranking tool materials’ tendency to galling have also been developed.

    The aim of this thesis is to develop and improve the Uddeholm Tooling Tribo Test rig located at Uddeholm Tooling AB. The rig, which is a variation of cylinder-on-cylinder test equipment, was improved with a new tool holder, a utilization of the real sheet material counter face and a new data acquisition system and software. The galling was detected using scratches on the sheet, metallographic analysis of the material adhered on the tool specimen, monitoring of coefficient of friction and the standard deviation of the coefficient of friction.

    The obtained results show difficulties with ranking of tool materials in terms of galling resistance under non-lubricated conditions. The tool steels tested were SVERKER21 and UNIMAX. AISI304-10, DC04 and DOCOL1000DP sheets were used. Additionally a low friction coating of BalinitC on SVERKER21 was also included. All specimens of the tool steels showed signs of galling on every run, only the low friction coating showed a transition in behaviour of friction coefficient corresponding to galling initiation. The standard deviation of the coefficient of friction increased at low loads. A decrease of the test loads led to stability loss of the system detected by an increase in the standard deviation of the coefficient of friction. This might happen because the Kistler platform is originally designed for larger loads. Although, the test rig does not work properly in its present state, the concept looks promising.

    Abstract [en]

    Oligo(phenyleneethynylene) (OPE) molecules are a class of fully conjugated aromatic molecules, that attract attention for their application as “molecular wires” in molecular electronic devices. In this thesis work, self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) formed from a variety of OPE derivatives have been studied. The chemical properties, structure, and packing density of the SAMs have been characterized utilizing techniques such as high-resolution X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (HRXPS), near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (NEXAFS), Infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS), contact angle measurements, and atomic force microscopy (AFM).

    In a first study, three OPE-derivatives, with benzene, naphthalene and anthracene, respectively, inserted into the backbone, and an acetyl-protected thiophenol binding group were found to form SAMs on Au(111) substrates with lower molecular surface densities and larger molecular inclination as the lateral π-system increases.

    In a second study, porphyrin was introduced as the end group to a wire-like molecule such as OPE. The purpose was to obtain well-organized and functionalized surfaces with optical and redox properties. Three porphyrin-functionalized OPEs had different binding groups, an acetyl-protected thiophenol, a benzylic thiol, and a trimethylsilylethynylene group, and were found to form SAMs on gold surfaces with difference in structure and degree of order. The molecules with the acetyl-protected thiophenol binding group were found to form a high quality SAM compared to the other two. This SAM exhibits a well-ordered and densely packed layer.

    This study gives rise to a better understanding of SAM formation of OPE derivatives, and will form a base for further investigations of charge transport properties of these molecular films, which is of interest for applications in molecular electronic devices.
