Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This thesis has started with the premiss shown in research which point to a gap between pupils in the Swedish upper secondary school who identify themselves as either religious or non-religious. Religious education (GY11) could be the link between them. This thesis assumed that an abstract terminology could have facilitated the meeting between the two groups. Therefore religious and non-religious worldviews were translated into systems of knowledge, which were socially constructed. The concept of political ontology was used to visualize how systems of knowledge were categorizing the world. The concept was used to analyse RE described in GY11. Thenceforth it was shown how political ontology could be used didactically in a classroom context through the concept of ontic, whereby the teacher could demonstrate that the pupils were in a metaphysical realm which influenced how they accepted a reality which was endogenously objective. By seeing the reality as socially constructed, assumed the thesis, could the pupils receive tools to be able to analyse how either a religious or a non-religious worldview affected how the world were categorised, and to be able to ask questions if the conditions of possibility were exhausted.
