Children, build and construction : About children's build and construction in preschool with a gender perspective (English)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to examine how children of the age of 4-6 years build and designs in preschool. With help of the socio-cultural and gender perspective has interviews with children in the age between 4-6 years been analyzed to examine how children reason and acts about gender roles in building and construction in preschool.

The study is based on qualitative semi-structured interviews that were done while the children got to play and build with large LEGO bricks. The LEGO bricks were included to make the interview as off-dramatic as possible. Interview as a method was chosen to obtain relevant empirical data to answer the purpose of the study.

The result shows that there is a difference between children´s building and constructions in preschool and at home from a gender perspective. It also shows that most of the boys and girls have different building techniques, and that most of the children weren’t aware of that girls and boys was building and playing different from each other.
