The aim of this study is to examine how teachers work with oral presentations in class. The focus is on the subject Swedish and on students in year 4 to 6. The study was conducted by interviews with five Swedish teachers, and a poll with 30 students in year 4 to 6. The result shows that the majority of the students that participated in the study dislike oral presentations, as they are afraid of being laughed at by their classmates. To get the students who are uncomfortable with oral presentations to relax in these situations, the teachers in the study suggest that by letting the students work with progressively longer presentations, they aim to make the students feel more comfortable in the future. An example of such progression is to allow students to start by working in small groups. The teachers also mentioned that the students sholud have plenty of time to prepare oral presentations. Additionally, the students should be informed about what the teachers will assess. Finally, some teachers said that they allow their students to decide for themsleves who they are willing to work with.
