The aim of the present qualitative study was to establish a deeper understanding of the therapist’s experiences working with juvenile sex offenders, focusing on their emotions. Results indicated that the therapeutic work has great impacts on the therapists, which is supported by research. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eleven participants and analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. Analysis revealed three major themes; the therapeutic work, the perceived consequences of the work and requirements to succeed in work. It was found that participants find the work challenging, they struggle to distance themselves from the work and use coping strategies in order to handle the emotional distress that they experience.
