Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study aims to examine how preschool educators' perceptions and work with children's influence on the educational activities in preschool in relation to their age looks like. The study's questions, how do the educators think on children's participation and influence in preschool related to children's age and how does the educators describe the work based on how old the children are when it comes to give the children participation and influence became the material for the interview questions. The study was conducted using the method of qualitative interview, three active educators in preschool aged 40-65 years participated. All three educators were working in the same division.

The results shows that children's age is relevant when it comes to gaining influence in preschool, but it was also more factors that were crucial in how much influence kids got. It concluded that  it could also be about how mature the child were, and how much responsibility a child should have in relation to the maturity of the child. A major factor to gaining influence in preschool was how developed the child´s language were. Children with a more developed language was easier to understand and  the educators could understand what  the child wanted, which meant that it had more chance to gain more influence than the children who did not have the same development in their language.
