”Things are going hand in hand” : A qualitative study of involved adults’ understanding of factors that affect integration of unaccompanied children in society (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of this paper was to examine involved adults’ understanding of factors that affect integration of unaccompanied children in society. Since the interest was to examining factors that can promote or inhibit the integration of unaccompanied children, involved adults were interviewed. The interviews have been implemented with social workers, teachers in preparatory class, legal guardians as well as superintendents and staff from home for care or housing (HVB-homes). The collected material has been analyzed by systematic text condensation. The results showed that there are several factors that can promote or inhibit the integration of unaccompanied children. The factors that were pointed out as affecting were mood, language, housing, sparetime, social network as well as the integration of mutuality. It also suggests that the different factors affect each other and that they together affect the integration. The results were analyzed with parts of Jose Alberto Diaz integration approach and the theoretical concepts exclusion and inclusion.
