The purpose of this study is to examine where a female writer who lived during the early 1900s could be positioned in the cultural producing field. To do this I will use an example of a female writer, Elin Wägner, and by using Pierre Bourdieu’s cultural political and sociological theories.
In my examination I have studied biographical writings about Elin Wägner and one of her own early works. I have chosen to define my examination to the short time of the writer’s life that adjoin to the work by her that I have selected.
The result I got when I had studied the writer and her work was that Elin Wägner can be positioned in the middle of the cultural producing field because she worked as a journalist at the same time as she wrote this novel and she became a symbol and a champion to the subject of her writing – namely women’s suffrage.
