AbstractEthics includes those norms, values and theories which gives us a sense of what is good andbad and what is right and wrong. Ethics deals with most parts of life and there for it alsoincludes all subjects, such as religious studies, in school.I discuss the meaning and importance of moral and ethics within religious studies in juniorhigh school. Through studies of literature and by analysing three different textbooks inreligion I have sought different expressions of ethics. I think this subject is of greatimportance because it gives knowledge, insights and a chance to develop.The topic creates an opportunity to form thoughts about your existence and what is right orwrong. This is an important foundation for the pupils to rely on both throughout and aftertheir school years.I illustrate what requirements are needed in order to teach ethics and moral governed by theschool policy document ”Lgr 11”. I have studied the leading policy document and what it tellsus about ethics and morals in religious studies and compared it with three textbooks. Theessence of what I found is that none of the three books entirely lives up to the intentions of”Lgr 11”. I believe that the ethics has been given to small a space compared to therequirements of ”Lgr 11”.Even so I think that the textbooks in religion are a good base to rely on, but it is good if it iscomplemented by TV-news, newspapers and other media.
