Den senaste kursplanen i idrott och hälsa betonar att friluftsliv ska vara en del av undervisningen. I samband med en flygande inspektion av skolinspektionen 2010 uppdagades det att olika bollsporter var det som förekom mest i idrottsundervisningen. Med detta i åtanke var undersökningens syfte att beskriva innehåll och omfattning i friluftsundervisningen i skolan, och om det fanns några skillnader beroende på om skolan ligger i en stats- eller naturmiljö. Undersökningens syfte var också att ta reda på elevernas uppfattning om vad friluftsliv är och deras inställning till friluftsliv. Undersökningen har en kvantitativ komparativ ansats och resultatet baseras på 76 enkäter. Insamlad data har bearbetats i statistikprogrammet SPSS. Resultatet visar att små skillnader finns men att både innehåll och omfattning är liknande på skolorna. Resultatet visar också att eleverna har en positiv syn till friluftsliv och undervisningen kring friluftsliv. En slutsats som drogs var att miljön kring skolan inte nödvändigtvis påverkar undervisningen i friluftsliv negativt eller positivt.

The latest curriculum in physical education emphasizes that friluftsliv should be part of the teaching. In conjunction with a flying inspection of the school inspectorate in 2010, it emerged that various ball games were the most represented in physical education. With this in mind the survey's purpose to describe the content and scope of outdoor education in schools, and whether there were any differences depending on whether the school is surrounded by roads and houses or nature. Its objective was to find out students perception of what friluftsliv are and their approach to friluftsliv. The investigation had a quantitative comparative approach and the result is based on 76 surveys. Collected data were processed in SPSS. The results show that small differences exist but that both the content and scope is similar in the schools. The results also show that students have a positive approach to friluftsliv and the education around friluftsliv. One conclusion drawn was that the environment around the school does not necessarily affect the teaching of friluftsliv negatively or positively.
