Dyslexia : A study about the school´s work with dyslexia (English)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to examine how two different schools were working with students ho have dyslexia or other reading and writing difficulties. Focus was directed on how the schools generally work with children with dyslexia and other reading and writing  difficulties; different approaches, tools, and how they viewed the assessment and grading.

To be able to accomplish this study qualitative semi- structured interviews with a teacher and  two special education teachers in two different schools were used. The interviews were processed and compiled.

The result of this study showed that both schools are dedicated to help pupils with dyslexia and other reading and writing difficulties. They have come a long way development in terms of facilities and they feel secure when it comes to being a teacher.

When it comes to if the schools had a specific plan for what to do if suspecting dyslexiathe answer was divided. The results also showed that the special educators work with the pupils were different, one worked happily with the pupils alone while the other special education teacher usually had no direct contact with the student herself but instead communicated with the classteacher.

Abstract [sv]

Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka hur två olika skolor arbetade med elever som har dyslexi eller liknande läs- oh skrivsvårigheter. Focus var riktat på hur skolorna arbetar generellt med barn med dyslexi eller andra läs- och skrivsvårigheter, olika arbetssätt, hjälpmedel samt hur de såg på bedömning och betygsättning.

För att kunna genomföra undersökningen användes kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer med en pedagog och två specialpedagoger i två olika skolor. Intervjuerna bearbetades och sammanställdes.

Det resultat som visade sig genom arbetet med den här studien var att båda skolorna arbetar medvetet för att hjälpa elever med dyslexi och andra läs- och skrivsvårigheter. De har kommit långt i sin utveckling vad gäller hjälpmedel och de känner sig trygga som pedagoger. Gällande om skolan hade en handlingsplan för hur de ska gå till väga vid en eventuell utredning var det delade meningar om. Av resultatet kunde man också utläsa att specialpedagogernas arbete med eleverna skilde sig en del, den ena arbetade gärna med eleven ensam medan den andra specialpedagogen vanligtvis inte hade någon direkt kontakt med eleven själv utan kommunicerade istället med pedagogerna i klassen.
