Abstract [en]

My GEXcel research in theme 9 includes two parts, one empirical project and a part directed at theoretical deconstruction, reconstruction and development of new analytic models and research tools to be used in Critical Studies on Men and Masculinities. The aim of the empiric part is to examine and compare how transnational discourse flows on boy pupils as a failing and underachieving group today is transformed and intermingles with theories, findings and descriptions produced in critical “Northern” masculinity research, and other discourses in three Nordic education settings – Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The empiric material that will be analysed in the projects that is presented and outlined in this paper consists of ethnographic material from gender equality conferences, political documents on government’s websites and articles in newspapers and teachers’ magazines. The part of my research project which is directed at theoretical development and construction of new analytic models, research tool and combinations of theoretical concepts and new political informed ways to present research is outlined and described in second part of the paper.
