Abstract [en]

This study aimed to identify women’s thoughts on how children are affected by responsibility and how the children may be developed as adults. Earlier research on the topic describes the concept of responsibility based on specific orientations. Therefore, this study is motivated to ensure responsibility from a holistic perspective. Data was collected by discussions in two focus groups, followed up with five individual interviews. The data collection was processed with thematic analysis. The study resulted in five final themes: “Responsibility as a behavior”, “The parental role and preschool role”, “The importance of social values and rules” and “How responsibility influence and develop us as people”. The main finding of the study was that responsibility is a phenomenon changing at various life changes. Therefore, responsibility change in parallel with humans when faced with different changes and challenges of life.
