Overture: Receptions, Critical Interpretations and Scriptural Criticism
Karlstad University, Faculty of Arts and Education, Department of Culture and Gender studies.

Abstract [en]

This book originates from a seminar within The Society of Biblical Literature called Romans Through History and Culures. The Overture spells out a hermeneutical practice used in the seminar, but also among other biblical interpreters - scholars and lay people. This practice is named Scriptural criticism, which underlines simultaneously the importance of critical scholarly work and the recognition of the bible as a text understood by many as scripture. Scriptural criticism urges each interpreter to take into account the analytical, contextual and hermeneutical frames of the interpretive process
