------------------------------------------------

Information systems are not developed for their own sake. They are intended to function as subsystems in a larger context. The larger systems, in which information systems are subsystems, are called object systems. Examples of object systems are enterprises (business firms, governmental offices etc) or parts of enterprises.

The relations between the information systems and the object system are important problems for the information system users. These relations can be discussed with greater precision if they are supported by a clear description of the object system and not only by descriptions of the information sustems.

In order to meet this need, methods for systematic description and analysis of different kind of activities (object systems) have therefore been developed in research group ISAC.

------------------------------------------------
