Pedagogers erfarenheter i arbetet med barn med Downs Syndrom
2012 (Swedish)Independent thesis Advanced level (professional degree), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [sv]

The purpose of this study is to obtain more knowledge on how teachers in public schools can work with children who have Down syndrome. Children with Downs syndrome is a heterogeneous group of people.

A qualitative interview methodology was used to get answers on how the teachers are planning activities/environment where there are children with Down syndrome in a child group and what experience the teachers has to work with these children.

The study content refers to what I have read in the literature and my links to the interviews I have done with the teachers at the selected schools. Through my interviews, I have found that children with Down syndrome are so different both in terms of knowledge and the way they act. It is therefore very individually how to work with these children in different schools. Of teachers ' experience it shows that active work with language training, such as character sign as aid, benefit children with Down syndrome.

I think it is important that you have enough knowledge of educators who work with children with Down syndrome, in order to create the best conditions for these children as possible.
