"Interesting but a bit hazy" : A Study of Upper Secondary Sutdents´ Thoughts on the Expanded Text Concept (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The society that today´s students live in constantly is progressing and television, movies, magazines, and the Internet makes-up for a major part of the students’ life in school as well as in their spare time. With this in mind, it is of interest both for the students as well as the teachers to be familiar with what an extended text concept is and how it might be integrated in the subject Swedish. The aim of this paper was to investigate upper secondary students’ attitudes towards an extended text concept, and to find out to what extent they encounter it in the average school-day .The investigation was based on qualitative discussions conducted with three different groups. The groups consisted of students from theoretical as well as practical programs. The results of this thesis show that the students lack knowledge of what is meant by the extended text concept. It is also indicated that the students to a greater extent wishes to work more with alternative text methods and sources.
