Students motivation when studying "Ung Företagsamhet" (Young Enterprise) (English)
Abstract [en]

In accordance with the strategy of entrepreneurship within the National Agency for Education, attention is given to the importance of business enterprise and entrepreneurship to be a natural part of the education at school. “Ung Företagsamhet” (young business enterprise) is often offered as a regular course but can also be part of an elective course at a secondary education.

In my thesis I have studied how students in secondary education perceive their motivation when studying UF (young business enterprise). As the UF-concept can be offered both as a regular as well as an elective course, I have delimited my study to a school and a course where UF is regular.

In my study I concluded that the motivation of the students varies over the school year when working with their enterprise. There are clear similarities in how the students perceive their motivation during the various working moments. In particular it is during the following moments that the students perceive that their motivation is affected: generation of ideas, competitions and submissions, marketing and sales and at the regional exhibition. It was also obvious what increased as well as decreased the students motivation during their work. Money, the certificate and that it is fun was the main reasons for the students motivation. The research also showed that support and coaching from teachers and advisers was in particularly important during the work with generating ideas and with the business plan.
