Sammandrag

Syftet med undersökningen är att se på vilka faktorer som påverkar urvalet inom historieundervisningen på grundskolans senare år.

Vad är det som styr urvalet inom historieundervisningen?

• Elevgruppens sammansättning?
• Diskussioner i lärarlaget?
• Genus?
• Skoltraditioner?

Hur ser det vardagliga arbetet med urvalet i undervisningen ut för lärarna? Detta var den bakgrund som jag har haft till min undersökning. Undersökningen är genomförd med intervjuer och litteratur.

Min slutsats är att lärarna använder sig i olika grad av olika faktorer men att elevgruppen är den dominerande faktorn för flertalet. De olika styrdokumenten finns i bakgrunden likaså de diskussioner som har förs i lärarlagen. Genus som påverkande faktor kunde jag inte finna var av sådan karaktär inom undervisningsämnet historia. Hur vida skoltraditioner är en faktor som lärarna är medvetna om beror till stor del hur mycket de själva är del av den anda som finns på skolan. De fast anställda lärarna är enligt mig mindre benägna att se det som en faktor än de som kommer som vikarier och ser med ett perspektiv utifrån.

Något som framkommit är hur viktiga läromedlen är och hur de kan komma att sätta tonen för undervisningen om pedagogen inte har ett kritiskt tänkande och vilja att komplettera med annat material.

Abstract

The purpose of this essay is to look at what the factors are that govern the selection of teaching material, within History courses, in the later years of primary schools

What is it that governs the selection of teaching material within History courses?

• Curriculum?
• Student group composition?
• Discussions among the teachers?
• Gender?
• School traditions?

For teachers, what does the selection of teaching materials look like from day to day? This was the background I have had for my essay. The essay was constructed from the result of interviews and information from literature.

My conclusion is that the teachers use different factors to a varying extent, but that the student group is the dominating factor for the majority. The curriculums, and other control documents, are in the background as well as the discussions that take place amongst the teachers. I could not find gender to be an influential factor within the subject of History. Whether school traditions are a factor that the teachers are aware of depends to a great extent on whether they themselves are a part of the spirit of the school. The permanent teachers are less inclined to accept it as a factor than the substitute teachers, who look at it from an outside perspective.

During my work on this essay it has become clear to me how important the literature is and how it can set the tone of education. That is to say; if the teacher does not have the ability to think critically and posses the will to supplement with other study materials, the literature will set the tone.
