Automatisering av gradningsprocess: Automatization of deburring process
2008 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (university diploma), 15 points / 22,5 hpStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

The object of this report is to look at ways to make a deburring process automatic. This report is made for Structo Hydraulics AB in Storfors. They manufacture hydraulic tubes and are world leading in this field. Today the machine operators have to deburr the tubes by hand with various tools and this is very straining for their wrists, back and neck.

Structo wants this process to be automatic and by doing so, decrease the number of people who report sick. They think this will also increase the productivity and the quality of the tubes. To solve this problem we have visited other companies and looked how they have solved similar problems. In this report we have looked at three different concepts to solve this problem and then weighed them against each other. The conclusion is that a robot application with a rotating file is the best solution.

Structo also has a problem with the present layout of the work cell. The problem is that it convey a lot of heavy lifting for the operators, so we have also made a suggestion for a new layout. With our solutions to the deburring problem and the layout problem the quality will improve and the strains on the operators will decrease.
