HOW CAN STATES PREPARE FOR POLYCRISIS? : Qualitative comparison of three countries' national risk assessments. (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The changing risk landscape gives rise to new types of risks, presenting global society with anovel form of crisis. The concept of poly-crisis is introduced in various contexts, emphasizingthe need for cross-border collaboration at various levels. The interconnected nature of societyallows risks to travel through both time and space, with the effects of poly-crisis being fargreater than those caused by individual crises within the system. This study explores the concept of poly-crisis, identifying its components to construct atheoretical framework for analysis. The framework is employed to compare the national riskand vulnerability analyses of three countries, examining whether these nations can beconsidered prepared for a poly-crisis or not. The study is designed as a qualitativecomparative literature analysis. The study´s results are presented along with the key criteriaidentified for the poly-crisis concept.
