With the genes as our gods : A thematic study of the alienating view of man in Anders Hansens television series Din personlighet (English)
Abstract [en]

This is a study of the psychiatrist and popular science author Anders Hansen’s television series Din personlighet. This paper argues that the series portrays an alienated view of humans through a thematic study of the concepts of medicalization, biological determinism, and one-dimensional language. This paper also argues that the series can be seen as an expression of our wish as a society to transform medicine and natural sciences into something resembling a religion, a religion which shapes how we perceive ourselves and the world, no matter how alienating the consequences.
