Abstract [en]

The rolling shear modulus G9090 of the transverse layers is crucial for the bending properties ofCLT. In this paper a new dynamic method based on analysis of a shear mode is suggested, forwhich specimens with glued-on steel plates is used. A very strong influence of annual ringorientation on rolling shear modulus was established for small specimens with variation in smallsteps from pure tangential to pure radial loading. At purely tangential and radial orientation, theshear modulus was about 50-60 MPa and 300 MPa at 45 degrees which is expected. However,at around 25 and 65 degrees, the results differ substantially from the theory
