El presente estudio indaga los usos del cambio de código (CC) por los medios sociales entre hispanoparlantes que viven en Suecia, esto en relación con otros estudios: Sankoff y Poplack (1981), Muysken (1995), Myers-Scotton (1997) que destacan el cambio de código como una forma natural de los bilingües para expresarse entre si. Se pretende averiguar cuáles tipos de CC se insertan en conversaciones entre dos grupos generacionales; el uno de hispanoparlantes que han llegado como adultos a Suecia, el otro de usuarios que han nacido en Suecia hijos de personas de origen latino. Se analizan las semejanzas o divergencias que puede haber en el uso del CC entre los interlocutores de los grupos generacionales y los posibles motivos por los que recurren al mismo. El material bajo estudio consiste en conversaciones escritas por los medios sociales. Los resultados indican que en los dos grupos predomina el CC que implica insertar un sustantivo del sueco en una cláusula o oración del español y que los informantes nacidos en Suecia son los que en mayor grado insertan toda una frase al realizar el CC.

The present study investigates the uses of code-switching (CS) in social media among Spanish speakers living in Sweden. This is in relation to other studies: Sankoff y Poplack (1981), Muysken (1995), Myers-Scotton (1997) that highlight CS as a natural way for bilinguals to express themselves. One group consists of Spanish speakers who have immigrated to Sweden as adults. The other group consists of second generation immigrants born to parents of latin origin. This study aims to determine what types of CS are inserted, identify similarities or differences that exist in the use of CS between the two generational groups and possible reasons for these varying usages. The information being studied consists of written social media conversations. The results indicate that both groups tend to insert a Swedish noun in a clause or sentence in Spanish. One difference is that the Swedish-born group also inserts entire Swedish sentences when performing CS.
