This study aims to examine the reasoning behind the implementation of Intellectual History as an aspect in different subjects in the Swedish Upper Secondary School in the 1960’s. It will shine light on the inquiry made in 1960 on the Swedish Educational System which showcased an aspiration to combine the humanities with the natural sciences in a desire to meet the goal of ”allmänbildning” (in-depth general knowledge) for Swedish students. To achieve this the Department for Education put Intellectual History into the curriculum for the Upper Secondary School, not as an independent subject, but as an aspect in eleven different subjects ranging from Psychology to Mathematics. This study shows that the curriculum used Intellectual History to achieve the goal of ”Allmänbildning” but did so in an insufficient way as they had no guidance or input from actual professors of Intellectual History in Sweden.
