Abstract [en]

The purpose with this study is to make visible how preschool teachers percieve their work based on the curriculum in groups of children that exceed the recommendations from Skolverket. The study is based on Bronfenbrenner’s developmental ecology theory with the support of a phenomenographic methodological approach. The study shows preschool teachers’ perceptions of the size of the child group and its significance for teaching and other goal fulfillment based on the curriculum. The result shows that preschool teachers’ experience large limitations in working on the basis of the curriculum in the prevailing group of children, but this is not the only problem. It is also about the lack of time. Both planning time and time in the business, this often falls away in favor of other routine tasks.

Syftet med studien är att synliggöra hur förskollärare uppfattar deras arbete utifrån läroplanen i barngrupper som överskrider Skolverkets rekommendationer. Studien utgår från Bronfenbrenners utvecklingsekologiska teori med stöd i en fenomenografisk metodansats. Studien visar på förskollärares uppfattningar av barngruppens storlek och dess betydelse för undervisning och annan måluppfyllelse utifrån läroplanen. Resultatet visar på att förskollärarna upplever stora begränsningar i att arbeta utifrån läroplanen i de stora barngrupper som råder, men att detta inte är det enda problemet. Det handlar också om bristen på tid. Både planeringstid och tid i verksamheten, denna faller ofta bort till förmån för andra rutinuppgifter.
