The paper presents an inventory report from 1674 about landless families/persons living in the woodlands of the Fryksdalen valley in the province of Värmland (western part of Sweden). The report was made by the authorities in order to get a hold of an often non registred part of the population, that had a dubious reputation in the neighborhood. The investigation in general. though, represents the landless as well functioning in the local society.
The inventory report gives a lot of information about migration and how the households was formed and functioned. It is a valuable source of information net least about the Forest Finns and their migration patterns.
