Föreliggande studie är en undersökning av fyra instrumentgruppers syn på och erfarenhet av a prima vistaspel där syftet med är att belysa hur pianister, slagverkare, sångare och träblåsare beskriver a prima vistaspel utifrån sina instrument gällande svårigheter, tidigare erfarenheter och övning i a prima vista för att sedan undersöka om det finns instrumentspecifika kulturella skillnader eller likheter mellan dem. Tidigare forskning som redovisas fokuserar på de parametrar som är relevanta för a prima vistaläsning, så som gehör, psykomotoriska färdigheter och att urskilja strukturer samt olika metoder för hur a prima vista bör läras ut. Insamling av data för denna studie skedde genom semistrukturerade intervjuer i instrumentspecifika fokusgrupper, vilken sedan bearbetades genom tematisk analys. Resultatet visade bland annat att det finns många instrumentella svårigheter som skiljer sig mellan grupperna, det framkommer också att en bidragande faktor till detta kan vara möjligheten att använda sina olika sinnen vid a prima vistaläsning. Resultatet diskuteras sedan i relation till tidigare forskning utifrån kategorierna skilda kulturella erfarenheter, redskap och dess olika förutsättningar samt strategier för a prima vista. Arbetets teoretiska utgångspunkter är konstruktionism, interpretativism och det sociokulturella perspektivet.

The present study is an examination of four instrument groups' views and experience of a sight-reading where the purpose is to elucidate how pianists, percussionists, singers and woodwind players describe sight-reading based on their instruments regarding difficulties, past experiences and practice in sight-reading and then investigate whether there are instrument-specific cultural differences or similarities between these groups. Previous research which is reported focuses on the parameters that are relevant to sight-reading, such as hearing, psychomotor skills and to distinguishing structures as well as different methods on how sight-reading should be taught. Data collection for this study was done through semi-structured interviews in instrument-specific focus groups, which were then processed through thematic analysis. The results showed, among other things, that there are many instrumental difficulties that differ between the groups, it also appears that a contributing factor to this may be the ability to use their different senses in sight-reading. The results are then discussed in relation to previous research based on the categories of different cultural experiences, tools and their different conditions and strategies for sight-reading. The theoretical foundations of the work are constructionism, interpretativism and the socio-cultural perspective.
