Kulturarv och tillgänglighet, hur?

En undersökning om samspelet mellan kulturarv och tillgänglighet i Birka och Edsleskog Cultural heritage and accessibility, how?

A study on the interaction between cultural heritage and accessibility in Birka and Edsleskog  Antal sidor: 19 This is a study about how two institutions work with accessibility for people with disabilities. Two archaeological excavations, Birka, and Edsleskog, are used as a case studies. The study focuses on websites and the information available there. Despite laws and recommendations from the UN and the government in Sweden, institutions do not always have the resources or the knowledge about how to improve accessibility for people with disability. The conclusion that can be drawn from studying the websites is that there is a lack of information about accessibility. Birka do not have any information about the accessibility. Lödöse Museum has, through Västra Götaland region, an accessibility database. There is no specific information about accessibility at the archaeological excavation sites, however an interview showed that the museum put a lot of efforts in making the Edsleskogs exhibition accessible when it was open. The results show that the work to improve accessibility for people with disabilities has come a long way, but the work is not finished.
