The present study has aimed to make a historical use-analysis of the TV-dramatization Vår tid är nu (2017–2019) from a class perspective, as well as examine how the TV- series can be linked to Professor Ulf Zander's theories of how history can be understood through popular culture. This has been done with the aim of studying which underlying messages the TV-series had the ambition to convey. The selection of TV-series has been based on both the search for a theme treating modern history (the Swedish post-war period) through popular culture as well as a relevant source material, something the TV-series Vår tid är nu corresponds to with regard to its impact. The study makes a breakdown into the fictional characters that represent different social classes, in combination with analyzes of what can be perceived as historical reference points. The study’s result can show clear class aspects in the TV-series’ presentation with both a romanticized and critical attitude towards the emergence of folkhemmet in post-war Stockholm as well as the society it replaced.
